so my SUV has been acting weird lately. about 2 months ago i got the transmission rebuilt and it has been running fine then a week ago when i try to shift into drive the shift will stop as though it is hitting something and the dash show both the N and D lit. It will only do this the first time i try shifting each day. since it is only the first time i really dont think its the switch and i checked the fluid and nothing. it also did a weird jumping thing when i was stopped at a light once the other day... it just kept jumping forward while the brake was pressed.

Hopefully you got a good warranty on your transmission rebuild, it sounds like you're going to need it. Every time I've had major transmission work done there is always at least one thing they messed up. Shifting problems, reverse lights on while in drive, just something.

sounds like the shift lock actuator may be shitting up and that will leave it in between gears or not shift at all....

depending on make/year and model have had to replace complete shift assembly on many of them...

as the assembly gets beat up it leaves them warn and out of range....try to push break peddle lil hard when u go to shift and check fopr wiggle when ur in drive do the lights fix or stay

sounds if torque converter lockup stays engaged when its should release around 40 k and lower

as loader suggested brake pedal switch an check trans speed sensor is working

with lights on same time maybe cable adjustment or trans TCM module failure

I've had my trailblazer have that problem and my old saturn. it was in the safety crap when u press the brake the safety is sposed to disengauge it to shift and mine was getting warn. my fix was to remove the safety out of the shifter. that was on the floor in both not a column shifter. "Safetly Lockout Solenoid" or maybe the cable is gettin warn. i know aftermarket like B&M shifters the cable touches the exhaust its toast wont shift right and it will have bind points in it. if they didnt have the cable far enough away from the exhaust.
