Mekketom Posted November 22, 2012 Member ID: 2082 Group: ***- Inactive Clan Members Followers: 59 Topic Count: 203 Topics Per Day: 0.04 Content Count: 1180 Content Per Day: 0.24 Reputation: 508 Achievement Points: 10096 Solved Content: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 12/30/10 Status: Offline Last Seen: March 16 Birthday: 10/31/1980 Device: Windows Share Posted November 22, 2012 i got a suburban 97 mod. 6,5 td. problem is that the rear breaks locks one wheel on the rear axel. one day it is the left. the other day it can be the right. but never both. it happens right after startup. and disapers after i driven for a bit. the rear end of the car shakes bad between 40 60 mph while braking. like you pulse punch the break pedal. ive shecked the drums and they are fine. nice and round. and the brake shooes are fine. no strange wearing. the shaft from trans to rear axel was overhauled last spring. and the problem came long after this. enybody who had this problem? and can tell me what it is? ive checked the forums on norwegian sites and it seems this is a sicknes with these cars. people just ignore it cause the cant find out what it is. Sounds like yours is messed up bad. Unless you know how to deal with those kinds of problems I would strongly suggest going to a certified brake expert and get it done right. Make sure you check the Diff. fluid i would change it if ithas not been done . If it has limited slip you should add the additive to too. Katana Posted December 2, 2012 Member ID: 2898 Group: **- Inactive Registered Users Followers: 11 Topic Count: 29 Topics Per Day: 0.01 Content Count: 180 Content Per Day: 0.04 Reputation: 62 Achievement Points: 1272 Solved Content: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 10/15/11 Status: Offline Last Seen: January 23, 2014 Birthday: 09/02/1954 Share Posted December 2, 2012 this is an old problem that i have dealt with before. check the flexible brake line going to the side that is locking up. many flex lines have the inner lining of the line collapse and when you step on the brake it puts pressure on the wheel cyl. then when you release the brake the collapse traps the fluid behind the collapse and the wheel cyl. won't release. now in the case of brake systems that have no individual flex lines to each wheel it may be as simple as a piece of debris in the wheel cylinder that backs up and plugs the hole the fluid enters the cylinder by. remove the wheel, brake drum and disassemble the cylinder and rebuild it. also purge the brake fluid system.
