Well I have not been able to game properly for weeks and now I cant game full stop.

Every time I load a game It crashes with various errors, if its not NVidia drivers stopped working its a full crash. I have narrowed it down to the GPU. I took out the one in my sons comp and had no problem but put mine in his and crash.

Funny thing is at the moment I can do most other things on my pc but game

So I am getting a new GPU at the end of the month, and it will not be NVIDIA I am sick and tired of the issues every time they release new drivers it causes hassle so going back to AMD rock solid and reliable.

Here is my choice and I would like to know has anyone else using this and is it any good...Its also as far as my budget will stretch..

The latest patent pending technology combines fin with clip module in a special triangle shape. With the original anti-turbulence structure plus the new triangle cooling design, it enhances the efficiency of heat dissipation dramatically by minimizing the flow of turbulence between fans. Therefore, the "Triangle Cool" Technology provides a more efficient air flow for the cooling system.

Ultra Durable VGA board provides dramatic cooling effect on lowering both GPU and memory temperature by doubling the copper inner layer of PCB. GIGABYTE Ultra Durable VGA can lower GPU temperature by 5% to 10%.

Ultra Durable VGA board reduces voltage ripples in normal and transient state, thus effectively lowers noises and ensures higher overclocking capability. GIGABYTE Ultra Durable VGA graphic accelerators improve overclocking capability by 10% to 30%.

Ultra Durable VGA board allows more bandwidth for electron passage and reduces circuit impedance. The less circuit impedance, the more stable flow of current and can effectively improve power efficiency. GIGABYTE Ultra Durable VGA can lower power switching loss by 10% to 30%.

Check your old one. See if the intake/outtake vents have a dust carpet. Consider reapplying the paste. However I doubt that would cause a game to crash immediately.

Hi Sammy I have tried that mate you advised me to do that about a month ago lol.

I reapplied the thermal paste and although it helped for a little while I just think it put off the inevitable.

And sorry mate I was not clear I can maybe last a round before it crashes with cod4 but the likes of Titanfall or Battlefield4 and I am very lucky if it lasts a round.

The R9 280x is a re-badged 7970.My 7970 handles everything very nicely on Hi/Ultra graphics settings.

If you go with the AMD card do NOT use the newest Beta driver.Wait for the official release if you want to use Mantel in BF4.Flash player and the beta driver do Not get along very well and it Will crash your computer.Other than that she's a rock solid video card.

Hi KaptCrunch its an old card now mate (NVidia gtx470). I have had it from new and its more than paid for its self, when I rebuilt my PC the last time I upgraded everything except the GPU (ran out of funds lol)

And the power supply is rock solid II00W Coolermaster more than twice the power  I really need but I got it at a great price at the time.

Just an opinion. The brand Gigabyte I personally never liked. I always go with EVGA. They have the best reviews. Also I have never had one fail. I have 2 sapphire HD7970's and I love em......

the 470 and all the series from that time is known to fail, i dont remember what exactly, but i had this problem with mine too, i contacted EVGA and they send me an upgrate version with like a big metal plate to help with the heat.

and not a signle problem with this one.

ssince that day, i will just buy EVGA and nothing else, as i really doubt any other brand would do that.

Tyntje,

I was in the market for a 280x for months, and was about to bite the bullet when the prices skyrocketed.

Mantle failed, and I went with a Palit Jetstream 770 GTX, and it is amazing.

Silent, never crashes and is overclocked out the box...yet can be pushed further if you need.

It's the same price, yet better than a 280x....think about it.

Baldi, check to see if your psu is single or multi-rail. If it's a single rail psu, it's undoubtedly your gpu going bad. if your psu is multi-rail, make sure you connect the gpu to other different psu gpu connectors to test it out. I see Crunch had a point in your situation.

The AMD R9? I have been looking at those but might hold off and see what comes up during the summer. Also depending on whether or not I get any new games.
