Thats funny. I have had several walkmen over the years. Cassettes and CD players. Having a built in FM tuner was a big deal. The biggest change? A little kid knows what Pandora is.

We all had one of those when I worked at Chrysler, the problem was with the cassette tapes, cause I was a spot welder for a while and the welding guns created a magnetic field and would erase the tapes LOL so we used only the radio part of the Walkman.Hey they did the job, they gave us tunes.

My senior year of high school (77-78) was the end of the 8-track era and the beginning of the cassette era. I installed both types in my car and switched between them as needed. Those were confusing times.

8Tracks were crap, remember how sometimes the 8Track player would eat them up.The things were very bulky, also there spooling system was so stupid, cassettes were so much better.Plus you could record on cassettes, not sure about 8Tracks though,I do remember if the song didn't fit the track it would fade out and then on the next track they would continue, just weird. So much better with mp3 players plus way more capacity.

I still have my original working walkman.

I also had an 8 track player that you could record with. I would just record over any old 8 track we had laying around.
