question run hot means what ?  after change water pump or has fuel ecomminty  changed

damage  your issue sounds to me  3 things

1 valve timing is late by a stretched timing chain or off the marks  or spark base  timing  late  (spark pick-up) or  bad  spark module

2 lean fuel mixture , what color are spark plugs

3 rad fins eroded from cooling tubes on core, if push on cooling fins in a corner of rad does it crumble

Sorry Damage_inc for late reply. I've just noticed your post.

In general overheating is a common issue in VQ35DE.  If you already check the pump, and head gasket for leaks try to change the thermostat to low-temp one. People with FI engine ( SC and turbo ) use it to avoid overheating. I would also check the radiator. It might be clogged.

Ive never heard about chain related problems in this engine. It a real reliable item. Of course it doesn't mean that it may not occur but i would check the cooling system first.
