I've just noticed your post. In general overheating is a common issue in VQ35DE. If you already check the pump, and head gasket for leaks try to change the thermostat to low-temp one. People with FI engine ( SC and turbo ) use it to avoid overheating. I would also check the radiator. It might be clogged. Ive never heard about chain related problems in this engine.
