I remember reading somewhere that this game in particular was designed with a feature that is suppose to offset the varied levels of ping so that the game play is smoother than without this feature. If that is right then what is the possibility that it is in need of a patch? This brings to mind that since Activision no longer provides support for this game then there will never be a patch forthright coming for it too. I believe we have been investigation the possibility that the problem may be hardware. You know it's very possible that the problem may be a game default. I do not know if this feature if it really exist can be turned off but if it can why don't we try it and see if it works and maybe even fix the problem? Just a thought to think about.

This is such a hard thing to hunt done . It can be the master server, our server, the game, the mod, the map rotation, the map, or even an odd coincidence of players isp screwing up the moment. If it would be less erratic in its nature it would be easyer to nail down. Also lets not forget that nobody is going to admit to it being there fault because they would have to assume responsibility for it. So everybody finds it easyer to say its not us. On the bright side this kinda thing usually clears itself up in a week or so. (which makes me add the map rotation thing to the problem)

 For  the mod we do have the max ping set to 300 and the antilag is turned on so there's not much more we can do there. Wish I could do more for you guys Dean but its in the Random Particles hands now :) OH Sheldon where are you :)

53b7f554229fd_Highpings.pngLabob notice the amont of high pings vs standard pings. The map befor I took this screen shot I won rather handily wna there was only 4 players with pings under 100! It seems we all know and understand that is the culprit but where is it being screwed up is the question! You would think the server owners would want this problem cleared up or it could have a very negative impact on their business! Just saying!

I notice CI's happen alot when high ping players are in or during the time they are entering.   Lets not confuse CI's with lag or jerky game play.  Is it "Connection Interrupts", you are experiencing ?  I just upgraded my old quad core AMD to an eight core and new motherboard and started experiencing alot of jerky game play.  I had to go in and change my maxfps to 0 (zero), it was at 200 which worked great on the old cpu/motherboard combo.  At 0 it cleared up.  MaxPackets is another setting which can cause issues with CI's.  If you do a goole search on CODWAW TWEAKS, you will find alot of things to help and or try.

Just so we do not go there I for one will not reduce the allowable ping to below 300 we do have players from around the world and I like that.

I like it too and I do not want to stop them from playing but my point is somewhere in this info is the solution to stopping this ci or lag or whatever it is that is happening. I believe these things are clues to the real cause or causes!

Okay I just googled this and found good info but now I cannot find my appdata file in my users file. Can you give me the map location in Windows 7? It isn't there with the map location they give me.

@@Labob I found it and changed my fps to 0 and it made a world of difference! I also turned my lagmeter on so I can monitor that while in game! So far I been showing all green and the high pings haven't bothered me much so far. Only time will tell!

I found this Dean. I sent PM to labob to see if he would like to try it.

// Force "com_maxfps"? (prevent FPS jumping hacks), it will force the maxfps for all players to this value.
//set ace_maxfps "250"    // lower or equal to 84 = off, 85 - 999 = on, default = 84 = off.

// Force "rate"?, it will force the maxrate for all players to this value.
//set ace_maxrate "20000"        // lower or equal to 4999 = off, 5000 - 25000 = on, default = 25000.

I forgot Dean if your FPS is set to 0 your monitor is off :)-

I should add that if you set it to 0 somewhere in the game its setting up a default FPS.

to see it it game you can run fraps or do this

Open up config.cfg in notepad > hit ctrl + f , be sure to have your cursor at the very first > type in fps, it should take you to cg_drawFPS "0" > change that 0 to 1 > find the next fps and change max fps to 500 or whatever

A Maxfps of zero unlocks the frame rate to whatever your card will do.  Dont confuse Maxfps with "Show FPS" which uses 0 and 1 to turn on and off the "onscreen" display of frame rates.  If Maxfps of Zero is working leave it there.  That way your pc will do what it can.  Well your video card will :)

no more comments but a few people complaining as usual. We did get CI's today and 1 guys ping went to 999, so maybe he was causing the problem, I don't know. I'll leave it to the admins to take care of now.

This is what the original file looked like if you guys want to change it back.

// Force "com_maxfps"? (prevent FPS jumping hacks), it will force the maxfps for all players to this value.
//set ace_maxfps "250"    // lower or equal to 84 = off, 85 - 999 = on, default = 84 = off.

Cheers Beers

I did some testing on the other dm (MW) server.  I unlocked my fps and ran around 400 to 600 fps.  I played at that setting for awhile.  I then capped my fps to 125 and it ran fine there too.  Full Motion Video is an average of 24 to 30 fps.   So anything above that is overkill as far as gameplay being smooth.   In my testing I actually found 125 fps to be quite smooth and didnt effect my ability to kill or be killed what so ever.  And on the plus side my GPU fan slowed down !!  My video card is not working as hard.   Even on the server in question,  capped at 85 it played fine for me too.  I know Ramistar has issues at 85, so why not cap it at 200 fps.  Dont lock it at 200, just set the range from 1 - 200 and see what happens or just put it back to unlocked.  Higher fps dont give one an advantage in my experience.  Its CPU, Memory and network settings and getting rid of background apps that effect gameplay the most.  Streamline your PC !!!   Well actually how good a player you are effects shit too.

Have you guys ever checked out BashandSlash??  These guys are awesome when it comes to tweaking COD.  I've used a yitch config for years with great results.

http://bashandslash.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=15&id=64&Itemid=108

This, however, however will not help any lag/CI issues.  I've been experiencing similar issues on the MW2FT server.  I had 2 CI's last night, along with a couple of other players.  With a 100MB connection from Kansas City, I still ping over 100ms.
