So my question is that: Should I use high DPI and low in-game sensitivity? or... Use low DPI and high in-game sensitivity, Note I don't want a 360° turn as all I need is about 180° turn. Right now trying to use DPI at 6600 and in-game 3% sensitivity. It's the DPI part I quite dont follow. Looking at different mouse sensitivity calculators. Not every game plays the same tho! I have my pointer tight because I am a knifer and at high speeds you need it where it will snap when you are on the move! This is after 4 years of FPS testing on different DPI/Sensitivity settings. DPI around 5500-6500. 6400 is the sweet spot for me. In game sensitivity 1-3%, mine is at 2%. Windows sensitivity at default ALWAYS! I used to play at 6400 DPI with 6% sensitivity. However after listening to some of the "pros" they said that is way too high. You want to base it all on a 360 turn. So go stand in game and test out a 360 turn. Originally I could do a 360 turn in less than an inch. Now it takes me about 3 inches to do a 360. After disagreeing for weeks to turn down my sensitivity I finally did, and said I would stick with the change for a weekend. Ever since I made that change, my accuracy has gone up almost 3%. Once you get used to moving your mouse more, you will begin to realize that its much easier to aim once your reticle is actually on the enemy. Sure having a higher sensatvity means I can look around faster, turn faster and see easier. But lower sensitivity means once you acquire your target, you have much more control with accuracy. The reason higher DPI and lower sensitivity is better is that when you change sensitivity in game, you are just changing its interpolation. You want none! This link will explain exactly why you want high DPI and low sensitivity. http://www.mouse-sensitivity.com/forum/topic/5-how-sensitivity-works/ A couple other things to remember as well. Keep your Windows mouse settings at default sensitivity. If you change it you will again be interpolating your mouse. Also make sure ANY type of mouse acceleration is turned off. You will never be able to accurately determine how far to move your mouse if the speed of it is different based on how fast you are moving it. It should be consistent every single move. Make sure your mouse polling rate is at 1000Hz. I recommend this program to check your current polling rate. Not all mice have the ability to change this number, but if yours does, set it to 1000. A rate of 1000hz means you have a potential of 0-1 ms of mouse lag added to every frame depending how long after the last mouse poll the frame begins rendering. 500Hz would be 0-5 ms of potential mouse lag. You want as little lag possible from your mouse to the pc. If you use a wireless mouse, just stop playing BF4 now. Lastly, make sure you turn off Origin in Game Overlay. This again adds about a 1-2 ms mouse lag. Do you actually ever use Origin Overlay? Nope. Give all these settings a try. I have written mouse threads before and have had alot of people try these settings with success. ONE LAST THING. Do not just make these changes and then play for an hour to determine if you like it. You need to force yourself to play with them for at least 5-6 hours to truly test them. Yes you will fucking suck at the game. Yes you will die alot. When I went from 6% sensitivity to 2% I dont think I had a positive kdr round for almost 2 days. Now though, I can't image using anything else. Good luck. If enough people want, I will write up a new one for BF4 since it has changed, and now includes profile changes to remove suppression. Here is that write up. It has two batteries that last about 2.5 to 3 days (has really last 5 to 7 days). Switching batteries takes 3 seconds. It's like changing a magasin on a gun. But have the option to go with wired and not useing batteries. (going to test this if i have room for the wire. I'll post my gaming mouse and mousepad later when I get home. Keep the mouse between 2500-3500DPI with max up to whatever your max is. Basically, you want to be able to increase your movement when you need it. I think that will still be a bit too high for you, based on what you said before. If you are going to 6600 I would try around 1-2%, even if it feels slower at first, youll find aim once your reticle is on the enemy is much easier. Theres always that chance you get the kill right? I am not saying your accuracy is bad, all I am pointing out is that the amount of interpolation your mouse is doing, vs. what it could do, is significant. vs. These are identical sensitivity settings, just one uses high dpi and low sensitivity (bottom) and the other (top) uses low dpi and high sensitivity. The closest to 0% sensitivity you can get to, the closer to a 1:1 ratio. You are costing yourself all the black dots (dpi) that you see on the bottom but not on the top. If you are at 1800 DPI and 40%, try something like 5000 DPI at 8-15%. It will have the same exact movement as you currently have but you will immediately notice how much smoother it is. So the point is not that you have bad accuracy, you play well, I know this cause I tend to like to hunt you . The point is why limit yourself? A DPI in the range of 1200-2300 gives me best results on big maps... 3600- 4600 on mid-small maps. I use 5800 when I am in a tank or gunner in a choppa! This can be done by going to "Control Panel" --> "Appearance and Personalization" --> "Display". Take a note of what your display scaling setting is.Step 4Now click the corresponding option in the folder we were at in Step #2. If your number is Step #3 was Normal (100%) then in this step click the one that said 100%. If you do not do this your mouse movements will be messed up.Step 5It will want your confirmation saying that the file will alter registry keys. If you did everything correctly, there should be no risk involved and you can continue. Upon clicking yes, you will see a success message!RecapThis should remove any type of mouse acceleration you see in applications/games/browsing. Hopefully this has worked for you. For example, in COD4MW my in-game sensitivity is 17.0676 (default on install is 4.67) and my G700's DPI has a setting of a range from 500,1450, 2550. 4050. 5700 with the default at 2550. When I am in a spot to pick people off, I lower the sensitivity to 1450 so I get better accuracy for long distance shots. Remember physics class the greater the distance the slower the objects appears to be moving? Same logic. When running and gunning I increase the sensitivity to 4050 so I can do a 360 in less than 100 milisec, my mouse is doing 1000 transmits/sec of my dot pixel location. This gives me 1ms response time for each tiny bit of action with my mouse. To put it in simple words, snipers need to be slow at moving the mouse while run&guns need to be twitchy to be effective.
