MW2 Freezetag Server Still Has Major Lag

Just wondering....is the current server for MW2 Freezetag (192.223.24.212:28960) the new permanent server that was supposed to correct all the lag that was going on? Because if it is, I am still having major lag issues (as were most of the people I was playing with earlier today. If not, then never-mind....but do we have any idea yet when this will be fixed?

 

If the issue is that we have problems related to people attacking our servers with DDOS attacks...then maybe we need to make some of the servers "member only" and just give out the ip address to XI members. Just my 2 cents...I am no computer guru...so maybe there is a better solution...but it seems that most of the time...when this particular server is working well...it is usually full ....with admins needing to boot non-members anyway to make room for members.

Hi @@Tron,

 

Thanks for your concerns, players are indeed experiencing lag still on the new MW2 FT server. If the server is half full it seems to run ok but starts lagging the more players that join. This has been brought to the attention of our upper echelons and they're currently looking into it. With any luck it's something easy to fix. It was alot of work to swap servers and we really don't need that again.

 

Concerning the member only server, this is by no means a stupid idea but we rely on donations from non members to help run everything here. If we look at a member only server we will loose a portion of the cashflow that helps give us access to all we have here. Also we need them for potential recruitment.

 

Keep an eye out on the forums for updates on this issue. cheers :thumbup:

If some people are having a major problem with the new server I can change the ow2 domination server to freezetag until the update is ready for testing. Gives people a 2nd option if they want.

We have tried this server is 3 separate data centers in the past month and everyone has lag no matter where it is.  So if this is actually true when you say everyone on the server is getting lag at the same time this might be a mod issue with too much stuff going on when the server gets full.

 

@@Sammy Can we do a test to make sure its not mod related and put on an older version of the mod just so we can check off one possible scenario off the list.

To be honest we get lag and CI on server 1 too.

Maybe not as bad as before but it still there too.

same issue on mw2 ....maybe its hosts isp....just a thought...maybe they have bad connections some where in their server rooms routers or w/e ...

my score is always suck so the lag dont bother me too much...being the gamechanger makes me an easy target regardless of mod..OH YEAH...TOO MANY CARS...THEY SEEM TO FIND ME ALL THE FUCKING TIME!!!!!!

I have been keeping an eye on the console log for the new server over the last week for errors. Since uploading the missing script fixes there were a few minor ones but nothing that should cause a CI. Maybe one small one.  If you havent, increase cl_maxpackets from 30 to 60 or more and see if that helps. Keep track of which maps are consistently the worst. Too many big fx, especially stuff like rain, are the biggest killers of performance.

 

The gametype for the other server is now ftag. OW2 Freezetag2 is the server name. 74.208.70.133:28960 Mod is ow2_145i. Shouldnt have the solid bubbles.

i get a decent amount of ci...was happening before the move and is still happening now...doesnt last too long..bout 15-20 seconds....but it just makes me easier to kill..and they love that!!!!!!!!!

I played last night with 12 players, one little ci but not much else. Enjoyed up to 20 point drop in ping. I will have to see how I go with a full server and see if it changes. :)

Titan here, i do hope everything goes well. as for the server. play in off peak times that why you will not get CI's. 25 players at max...anything beyond that you will get CI's. cheers all

To actually be fair there would have to be two Duke models with different skins. Or something else so there were easy to spot differences. Otherwise both teams look the same. I would have liked to have two versions in this mod.. axis and allies skins... but there wasnt room. Unfortunately the way the game engine works a simple skin change requires a whole new model. Which is why mods can never have camo guns. Would be better to just treat it like a pistols-only match with a forced loadout.

Actually that would make it even more fun, since we don't have FF. You wouldn't know who is who.... craziness overload.

its doin it on every map...especially when server fills up ....i havent seen too much when numbers are 10 vs 10 or less ...but i usually dont stick around long..after numbers drop

yea its not map related, its not mod related either as we get the same CI on server 1

for my part i doubt its related to the numbers of players on the server (but maybe on the whole box ? coz we get CI when we got like 10 players on FT1 too), but im not sure about that one.

 

when there is a CI going on it doesnt seems to affect everyone, but only some players, then the next CI afect those same players, then the next CI affects others or the same players again, and so on.

it sounds to me like a PB issue, but do we still have that going on ?

its like a script that affect some players and fail to do what its supposed to if u know what i mean.

maybe stats ? i dont know

 

i have the lagometer on all the time, and i can clearly see red lines all over the place at certain moments.

then a big CI, sometimes just red lines and ofc pings going up.

 

when there is no CI or lagspikes, everything seems to be very nice to me, smooth and all

Lets put on the ACR mod and see if we get the same lag on the same server...

Tonight the Freeze Tag server started lagging then within 20 min people were getting dumped or going to black screen until

finally it crashed all together.  I know ADMIN tried to reboot a number of times but the server kept crashing on them every 

time two or more people joined the server.

I hope it is an easy repair because there are 30 or more people that rotate in from 12:00 noon to 1 0r 2 in the A.M. everyday.
