My computer is dieing a slow and painful death so not sure how much i'm gonna be around at the moment. Going to have to start getting some money together to buy a new one.

I keep getting BSODs so i think it's only memory but it could be PSU??

There are so many possibilities that it'd be an idea to get a checklist and work through it to try to establish what the cause is.

@@Bor2013 is right clean it out first, I use an air compressor to blow it out to get rid of all the dust bunnies, AKA: Dam Bunny Hoppers. When your machine is heating up yes you will get BSOD's. You may also want to try like they said a check list remove one item at a time. I know you said you are not Tech savvy ask a friend or a friend of a friend, you have to know someone in your area who has some computer knowledge to look at it for you. Otherwise then this may be a blessing in disguise go out and meet people and get off the dam computer LMAO. Hopefully you don't do the same thing to your car just turn the key and drive, or missionary position with your wife all the time she will find another. Do not mind me I am just an old idiot.

tip: when using lots of air to clean, be careful not to let your fans spin up like a turbine. They can produce voltage back into the mobo.  In some cases this can cause damage.

If you are blue screening you may want to check your windows event viewer logs and it should have a critical event in there if it caused a blue screen. This will give you more info on the blue screen. you can also get some hardware disgnostic tools which will check  different hardware components

you can test your memory using memtest86+

I 100% agree with this.  run memtest86+ for a good 12-24 hours.  that should tell you right out the gates if its your memory.  If you dont get errors, we can look at other tests to verify what it is.  I am going guess its probably not a PSU as PSU usually will not cause a BSOD, but instead just completely power down.

If u are able to get the error msg from the blue screens should help drastically. They are usually pretty clear and should help alot in diagnosing the problem as mouse said. If its just ur psu or memory that would be a much cheaper fix

Just done a mem test and nothing came up what so ever. Not even 1 little error. Really worth doing it for 12 hours?

I'll try and photo the bsod. I'll play some games and see what happens

I would get something with a Lifetime Warranty if at all possible.

Don't know if NewEgg.com ships to the UK but this is a pretty darn good deal.

Your memory should still be under Warranty.I would RMA it just to be on the safe side. All Corsair memory has Lifetime Warranty Even they're Cheaper stuff.

The Radeon HD 7950 and 7970 3+gb cards are a bit faster than the R9 270x and you can find them cheaper online.Might want to look around a bit.

OH I completely forgot about Import Tax and VAT and all the other stupid Taxes you guys have to pay to import stuff.

I have that gpu and mfg. I had a problem where my computer would reset itself after playing a game for a few minutes. I dont remember if there were any bsod. Turns out the card intake and heatsink inside had a huge carpet of dust on it. Cleaned it in addition to applying new paste and all was good again. It would be a good idea to open it up and check for this. Blowing air into it wont work.  XFX, if you registered, has a lifetime warranty on it I think but opening it up yourself would void this. If you do, be sure it is a place where you will be able to find dropped screws. The ones inside are tiny.

edit: If you try this dont bother with the paste at first. See if cleaning out the dust carpet alone will do it.

There is absolutely no reason what so ever to run it less than 12 hours. I used to be lazy like that, and it just ends up getting you in trouble.

Since I would never buy ATI I cant provide a opinion.

It's the PSU. Clean power can make all the difference in a stable and unstable system.

ok, well there was no dust in the card or in the PSU, the computer is dust free. Time to make a decision on the GFX card I think.
