started a topic here...

http://www.xtremeidiots.com/topic/48330-computer-dying/

As my computer is starting to die while under stress I think i've decided to start building a new PC.

I'm now assuming it is a graphics card problem more than anything else and it seems to only crash while under stress playing a game.

I'm thinking about purchasing this graphics card.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-327-SP

Does it really matter that my mobo is PCI-E 2.0 and the the card is PCI-E 3.0?

Any advice and guidance on the whole matter would be great received.

Many thanks.

Nope, PCI-E is backwards compatible so you are good to use whatever card you want.

It may limit performance a little but at least if you ever get a new MB etc. in future it will be good still.

That all aside see if you have a friend or someone that would loan you a PSU to test and make sure it's not that.

But TBH under stress it can be any part causing crash, from MB, RAM, to PSU and/or GPU etc.

HW issues can be a bugger sometimes to figure out cause, especially if you don't have some sort of spare parts to play musical parts with.

Well i have been given permission to sort it out with a spending limit of £500/600.

I think i will start with this order.

GPU
POWER

MEM
MOBO & PROC.

my HD would just either work or not work wouldn't it so I presume it's not that.

can't get that far now. it's just the game that keeps crashing within minutes of being in the game. Not sure what to do...

Either way I think i'm gonna buy a new GFX card.

Any suggestions budget is £150.00

for what game?

This is my favorite benchmark website.. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

You should also look at what frame rate people get with _X_ game and _Y_ card.

Ok, next question... are you cool with running the game at lower settings?

And what is your monitor resolution?  1080p?  1440p?
