We are getting a lot of stories over here about larger than average spiders at the moment, this was on yesterdays news and is very close to where i live, this girl must be really unlucky, our "poisonous" spiders are not really that poisonous but i guess if you have a bad reaction to it you are screwed.

The press loves stories like this.  You're right - this sort of thing is rare indeed.

Mind you, when I was bitten by a mozzie, some years back, I ended up at a

hospital with a badly swollen leg on which a line was drawn to mark the

moment when I should present myself at A&E!  Small creatures can cause

some of us problems but we have thousands of spiders around our home

and it worries me not.
