alrighty then, just ordered my 2.5  long block, should get it this wed.  got most of the parts cleaned up and ready to install back on. just need to pick up a few parts to finish the engine/trans install, like a muffler, new fuel injectors, belts, and bunch of little things im sure will come up. was hoping to upgrade a bunch of stuff but need to watch the spending atm, can always do those upgrades later.  also want to get some new rims and tires(31s) and a 1.25 inch body lift also. can't wait to get going!

best do now  like 3 angle valvejob  with neway seat cutters  might a rental tool or local small engine shop have it

and  5 angle job for 15 more ponies along with roller-rockers 5/16 studs  1.7 over 1.5 stock ratio, adding .096 lift , crane cams p/n 44746-16  a bolt-on part  enough for 2 engines  for half  is needed

Note: check valve clearance with putty I know 1.6 ratio works  for 1.6 rockers  for 3/8"  studs  and  studs 5/16" bolt-on  p/n 11746-16 ,  99146-16

Love it. I bought a 2006 wrangler almost a year ago. My first American vehicle and I absolutely love it. A little honky around turns, but the chance to tip over makes it exciting! I plan on getting wagon wheels for mine since there's really nowhere to off road here aside from asshole neighbors' lawns :D

That should be some fun Hemps. Don't be in a rush if you have another vehicle use it.

A slow build makes it that much more exciting when it all comes together.

Sounds like @@KaptCrunch has it going on with the upgrades he mentioned

I didnt see anything about putting a turbo on it. . . . . do you have a fever?

When you get it done it should go anywhere you point it

Take a bunch of pictures so we can see your progress

im just looking for a basic stock build for dependability. this little jeeps can do alright off road even with only 4 angry squirrels under the hood!  and most likely won't being doing much of that. but Chicago winters can be brutal and 4wd will help.

just picked up the engine tonight!  so friday i start getting it ready to go back into the jeep. ya!

They sure look nice when you first get em

Sometimes you just need a good daily driver and I hear you on the cold, snow and needing 4wd

When I first experienced living in a deep freeze i had only 2wd vehicles and learned a lot.

Now every vehicle is 4wd even my 3 wheeled ATC110 . . . . har!

yep, will do the priming thing.  still got to get the transfer case in, the drive shafts. need to go buy fuel injectors, battery, alternator, radiator and hoses.

all the vacuum lines are done, and all the electrical connections are figured out. need to hunt down a couple missing bolt/nuts. hopefully just a week or two and ill get to start it up.

well she's all done. started right up with no problems, did the break in, which was keep it around 2,000 rpm for 20 min and then let it cool down and re-torque the head bolts. then i took it for a short run to check out the trans and all worked fine. woot!

But it seems that while the jeep sat for those 4 years or so mice made a home inside the vent works, doh, and it not a good smell! so now im working on getting the vent system out so i can do a real good clean up on it, so far i got the dash out and working on getting the vent housing out....but not too big of a deal.   break lights and turn signals didn't work so got to figure that out also, hopefully its just a fuse or a ground wire

Did I just see you going 35+mph in a residential zone (25mph)? :popo:

     just messin with ya

Is that the stock exhaust? sounds good for a 4cyl.

it looks like you did a solid job of putting that whole thing together it should give you years of service.

How did you come out on your budget? whenever I do a build like that it seems like there is a few things I didn't expect and budget for  . . .. . .but you cant cut corners after going this far so you just suck it up buy the parts and worry about it later.

the sound is a lil load cause there is no carpet in it and i dont have the pipe from the muffle to out the back yet.

as for the budget it was around $2,800 to get it back running. which i think was pretty good. need to get 1 tire replaced for now to get threw winter and then in spring im going to buy 5 new tires and rims, and do some other things to make it look better like monsterliner(truck liner stuff) the floor, front and rear bumpers(might make those myself...maybe) and a 1 1/2" body lift and a 2" suspension lift.
