The season is almost over and the big boys will be showing up. nice 6-8 pointer, I all most hit one that big going to work on Friday..dam it was close They passed a new law here in Montana that if you hit a Deer you can pick it up and go buy a tag and keep it. It's kinda strange how one type of Deer will do so good in an area and another type of Deer disappears. I don't think food is the reason since Muleys and Whitetail will eat the same things. There are Whitetail Deer in my area but I don't see them too often, mostly Muleys. The ranch I work at (100 mi away) there are mostly Muleys until you get down by the Tongue River that's where Forest Mars (Mars Candy Bars) has a ranch and HUGE Whitey's and Muleys both there. Just for shits and giggles here is a 4 point buck Mule Deer ( most Montana hunters use this term) The brow tines (short points at the base of each antler) Can be counted as a point if they measure longer than 1 1/2" This buck would be considered a "shooter" if I was hunting or guiding someone else based on the spread of the antlers extending well beyond the tip of his ears and the thickness of the beams.
