Uav does nothing for me, but I doubt that will free up much space.

 

You could drop the pavelow and just use the helis for the assets rather than ac130. I'm assuming smaller is better for keeping it from lagging when you have 8 care packages called in at once.

Smaller is better for compatibility. But drawing very complex models does make a difference. If LOD is high then it requires more umph to draw it all. Same with huge fx. As for drops, it will be limited to four at any one time especially because players can stack. If this happens you will be told airspace is full and will have to wait.

 

As for ac130, not much because its a very basic model and low in detail. However it is needed for care package drops because of maps that dont have built in helicopter support.

 

If this were a pure sci-fi game I would do care package drops like Star Trek. They would be beamed in from space. :lol:

 

edit: Currently there is a custom briefcase used for S&D and thats coming out for the ftag-only version.

The ac130 needs 80k. There are weapon reload sounds bigger than that. :lol:

Hey @@Sammy quick question, in this mod when you throw an EMP ahead of you to destroy a car or something, and you walk towards it, is it meant to affect you too ? or its a bug?? just wondering it happen to me several times in the game.

Another thing that would help with modff file size a bit is to reuse more stock mp weapon sounds as much as possible. Timings with animation would still have to be close enough. Fire sounds are very distinctive so those would have to remain custom. But, where possible, reload sounds for example really arent all that important to be custom except for some weapons. Some already do this. For example the only custom AK47 sound is for fire. Everything else is from the stock game. Would this be a problem?

This is going to replace the Intervention. There are a few reasons.

 

The M40 was always my fav sniper rifle in the game.

The custom viewmodel takes the SP camo model with a few minor parts added so it doesnt look so plain and also for the silencer.

I can use the stock world model so no need for a second world model asset.

No custom sounds needed.

No custom materials. Just replaced weapon skins.

No custom animation assets needed.

Game needs a sniper rifle without a mag.

 

The viewmodel isnt quite finished and I am not a great weapon modeler. The scope from the stock model needs more poly detail in places. The silencer attachment is a little too small. The camo skin quality isnt very good, which is the stock skin, but I dont have the time to make up a fully custom one of my own. Just the usual photoshop stuff for color balance, contrast, fitlers and things like that if anyone has any suggestions. Or if there are any simple tweaks to the model itself if anyone has any ideas.

 

For game balance purposes there will be no differences from the stock m40 and th L118 will match the R700 for stats but with a mag.

 

Opinons or suggestions?

I do some times for some weapons mainly because I like the non-silenced sound.

But why not one of the sights? Either rds or the others different games have? Or any other attachment that doesnt include a silencer?

ACOG is crap for the most part. It takes away accuracy. The RDS is pretty good alternative but the cost is discretion. I like the silencer as short bursts or taps help me keep a low profile. 

 

On another note, would it be possible to have two attachments, like the RDS and the silencer? That would be very kick ass.

I could do something as a special weapon to go along with the death machine and war machine streaks. But there arent enough weapon assets left to do it for more than that.

I use silencer now as red dot is too obtrusive for very long shots and acog is to obtrusive in the peripherals. Smaller red dot would make me sticky!

It has higher sway settings that affect your aim. Which is the penalty for giving you more zoom.

Going to make the steadycam to be a bit more in line with the bcpu in terms of sway and recoil. Which is funny because no-sway has been one of those things sniper servers did for years and they finally put the option into the game. Sway will be reduced by 50-70% (as opposed to %30 for the stock game) depending on the weapon. The .50 will have 70 but the M21 will have 50. The others will be somewhere in between. In return recoil will be cut in 1/2 for all of them. Thinking about doing a range for that one as well. Bigger percentage for the .50 etc. This kind of balance will be very useful for high recoil weapons.

 

Also, which is why I made the post, if nobody actually uses the no-attachment versions of sniper rifles might as well use them for something else like extended magazines. Which wouldnt be a big deal to do. Ammo loadouts would still be the same. So Regardless of which you will have to choose an attachment. Bigger mags, silencer, or steadycam. The no-attachment versions really are only useful for rank-up servers. I am thinking about doing something similar for the other classes but I am waiting to hear from all of the XI players how many of you actually just use iron sights and why.
