Using spawn protection from kill streaks is a popular tactic to get behind enemy lines and dominate the enemy. There are more people who use it this way than those who don't. We shouldn't dictate game play. Pvt. Penis ahem Death may not use it this way but allow me to point out. You can use the recoil from sniper rifle with steady cam to jump higher and exploit it to get on places that you couldn't even if u had 333 FPS. May be we should remove that too? People can choose to use spawn protection to hide or get behind enemy lines its their choice. Why would you limit options? I don't like how people exploit artillery to stop enemy air support from coming in. I don't think it was meant to be used this way either. Again, players will adapt to gain advantage over enemy players. 

 

Stop signs are meant for people to STOP their cars for at least 3 seconds and then go but people usually just slow down and go. My point being, how many people have been complaining about removing or reducing spawn protection times? Please don't fix what aint broke.

I disagree with iPooPoo ahem iBoomBoom and I use the spawn protection after an Rc to further my survival and gain the next kill streak, or to knife someone in the back (which is my favourite use for it). However, it royally pisses me off when it happens to me lol. Angus will testify that it is infuriating to get stabbed in the back, when you are in an area with one entry point that you are watching like a hawk! Or you go into a room and check all the corners and go to move on and then you get nailed by someone spawning behind you.

 

The solution would be to revert back to spawning at spawn with the full protection. No disadvantage is dealt, but more importantly, there is no advantage gained!

I am not going to force a change on this particular issue. Up to all of you to decide where to spawn or if timing should be less.

 

The sniper rifle thing is due to the weapon firing projectiles for long range. However in 1.46 that will be changed back to normal sniper rifles. Bullet penetration and all of that.  I did a lot of testing on the Arena map... I think thats the name... at the farthest distance I could possibly find and normal sniper rifle range is fine. Since the attachment is losing that ability I will be making gunkick for it a bit less. It is a steadycam after all. How much depends on the rifle. The M21 wont see that much of a difference but the .50 will be noticeable.

Well no disadvantage is a presumption. For instance, you are almost 2/3 of the way into enemy spawn, you are the last player alive, you decide to defrost with your car. All off a sudden, from being in an unexpected spot you find yourself running out of spawn again. I think the moving spawnarmor adds a dimension to the game as well. Easy way to get rid of campers too, should be an pretty big deal for a lot of us, if the whining about camping is any indication :)

That is true. Respawning would be no different than any other player. But then again, if your side is losing that usually means the enemy is getting more cars by sitting there and spawn camping. They also would have to respawn back to the beginning.

How is that not a disadvantage. If after all this time playing I learned one thing about making comebacks, it's that the people frozen outside of spawn need to be defrosted if you want a chance. Comebacks happen if the portion of players frozen in spawnarmor movement range from spawn is big enough to sustain survival (that's why there so often is one player that got out of spawn, when a comeback happens). It would be a HUGE disadvantage in my optics, but it would defenitly nerve the overpowered nature of the car (and all other killstreaks that give you spawnarmor), since I know I would instantly drop it for killstreaks that get more kills, since the car would no longer serve my interests, as it would have the potential of putting me in the worst spot of the map. Either because the enemy is there, or it is the maximum distance from the enemy. Not to mention it would bring the overpowered nature of campers back, as chokepoints can be easily held by 1 or 2 campers again. The spawnarmor in different locations is one of the things I like most about the MOD. But if, like all things, change decides to come to that, I suppose it will finally be time for me to start looking for another FPS game :)

Like I said, its not something I will change. Up to all of you.

 

Besides with the stacked streaks there is also a greater chance of sentryguns held until needed. And of course sentryguns target cars. They become little more than extra spawn protection. I think I can get helicopters to target cars. I have to look into that. Drive at your own risk. :lol:

Helis already target cars. Killing a car these days is very easy.

Very often when u defrost someone in a losing team, they die in less than 10 seconds. If I am rhe last one alive I get a car then I run out of spawn get my next kill streak with spawn protection and then keep going back and forth.

 

What you are proposing favora the winning team heavily.

If a comeback is going to happen, people have to survive spawning, regardless of where they are melted from. The idea that only the guy miles from spawn can be the sole participant in the comeback is ridiculous. The guy he melts then melts the 2 frozen in spawn before his protection expires and so on. The comeback can come from a single melt by the last man. However it happens, they will spawn in spawn, I honestly don't see a problem coming back from being a car in spawn, you have the same chance as if you had just been melted. Edited by {MFF}Blaze{GS}

I dont see a strong reason why to change things the way they are right now. We enjoy it, why mess with it? The whole spawn protection adds a dynamic to the game unlike anyother. Thats what makes our mod the most unique, there is nothing like it out there. Why ruin a good thing?

1.46 beta 3 is online but because of the fucking activision problems I doubt anyone is going to be able to get into it. I cant. So if you want to play it try periodically to join and see if it finally works. Note that it is a big download with the iwds. When I can I will upload a package to my mediafire account so people an download it and play at home alone against the dumb bots. Home servers, at least listen servers, dont seem to have a problem.

The beta 3 server seems to be working. Joining isnt instant however and takes a few seconds for the server to respond. I invite everyone to try it and I am crossing my fingers.

Had a couple messages in the Openwarfare forums that one or two people did manage to join the server and play around with it. So it looks like the server works ok and I welcome everyone to play it and tell me what they think.

 

Just to note: Players that had the g3 as their favorite weapon in the past can now use the sc2010. Fills the same roll. It replaces the steyr and that weapon remains as the hbar heavy rifle variant in the lmg class.

So I logged in to test the new weps. I I like the specialized suppressed weps class. I think that 308 is a great wep sounds a bit miffed but I can live with that. I like the m32 GL, that thing will annoy so many people :D. Overall, I am very much looking forward to the new mod.

Oh yea those. Due to requests I added two rds/silencer special weapons. HK416 and M16. Since there are two attachments perk 1 is disabled. Their damage and range match their silencer-only versions. FoV matches reflex versions. I notice the 308 rds is a little high but it doesnt seem to affect hit detection if you aim where the dot is. I will fix it.

 

How would you describe sounds for the 308? To help with modff size several weapons where possible use stock foley sounds for things like reloading. But their fire sounds are custom. It replaces the scarh model but all stats are the same. Perk 1 M32 matches Chinalake, which in turn match the GL attachment, but its semi-auto obviously and a better sight.

You mean like a lack of echo or something. Its the right custom sound for it but maybe something got cut off.

 

edit: checked it against the original wav, which was ported from ghost or whichever game, and its correct. I suppose it sounds more like an smg but its the smallest of the assault rifles.

There are several advantages.

It is certainly faster. Still working out timing however. I dont want it too fast.

The marker fx is stock so it doesnt need to be in the mod. The green smoke is custom.

Rocket fx is the same as the jet afterburner and also stock.

Simpler code since there is no heli or ac130.

Several more allowed simultaneous drops since there are no vehicle limitations.

 

I dont have the drop package from ghost but this is good enough and the regular care package is a complicated rig because it has all the team logos and also doubles for the decoy. I really dont want to mess with all that. This isnt strictly in the same realm as 'modern warfare' but the fun factor is more important than real weapons.
