I've played with 6400 DPI @ 1-2% in game sensitivity and have never gone back.  YMMV, but I say leave in game at 1-2% and then adjust the DPI up until it feels comfortable.

Get out of here with your hipster l337, pro recommended, bs that looks like it was made in 1984.  2 buttons, 3200 max DPI, yellow?

At least it makes up for its lackluster looks and performance with:

  • Ambidextrous mouse developed for claw grip usage
  • Two thumb buttons on both sides to comfortably serve left- and right-handed users
  • Plug and Play (no drivers needed)

Ambidextrous, so when i jerk off I can switch hands!!

Plug and Play!  OMGZ when did this become available?!!

I use the Logitech gaming software because I also have a Logitech G19 Keyboard.  I dont use any profiles.  I just use 1 standard profile and then set my DPI's to:

JGAdT5N.png

800 - Photoshopping, when I need to move slow.

2550 - Rarely use, but again use it when Photoshopping

3700 - This is what I use in Windows, so when I log out of BF4, I click down one to use the lower DPI

6350 - Only used in BF4

7350 - I have no idea when I would ever use this.  Perhaps if there was some online game where the objective was to move your mouse as fast as possible.

Also, now that you are using a DPI adjustable mouse, make sure you have Windows mouse sens. ALWAYS set to 1:1 and acceleration disabled:

I'm working my way down on the sensitivity side. I'm at 800 dpi currently with around 7% in game. I may drop my dpi to 400. I've been way more accurate with the lower settings then the high settings. I've been between 22-33% quite abit and I'd like to reach that 30% consistently.

whhhyyy?  Stop dropping your dpi!  Drop your sensitivity!!  Dropping dpi just causes the mouse to interpolate between pts aka accelerate.  If you can get high DPI and low sens, you can avoid interpolating of points, while getting the exact same feel/speed.

6400 DPI

400 DPI

Notice the movement distance is the exact same?  The top just has higher dpi, with low sensitivity, allowing the mouse to use ALL points.  The bottom is ~ 400 DPI, with high sensitivity.  As you can see it removes thousands of data points, and just interpolates itself.  This means your mouse is essentially skipping over points where it tracks.

So you think i should have it high, and then just adjust my in game sensitivity to where I like it?

It really comes down to preference and how you are setup. For my settings, lower dpi and lower sensitivity help refine my accuracy and tracking. I'm not over shooting my targets and can track. For me with lower dpi and sensitivity I can handle recoil much better than higher dpi and low sensitivity. My accuracy has gone from 14-17% on avg to 20%+. Mainly most of this is muscle memory as well and it can be easier to develop and know recoil better without overshooting. I'll post a recent battle report as well. It's almost like I have an aimbot now with what I've een able to achieve lol.

Edit 2: here's a recent battle report. The server lagged out/disconnected and I was just on shredding them. Those back rages in locker can just decimate the enemy if they don't pay attention. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/battlereport/show/1/544233510612855680/185785827/

Did you ever think your accuracy went up because you are playing the same class, same types of gun, on the same map almost 90% of the time?   :P

Ive seen that video and that guy has some idea what he is talking about, but not completely.  He understands the movement vs. dpi. vs. resolution.  What he doesnt understand is the extrapolation/interpolation works between dpi vs. sensitivity.  As he even states "3000 DPI is sufficient for a 1600 resolution"  Most people play 1900 (or higher).

Lets also not forget that much of what you posted is based off of CS players on 1024x768.  As the links even state themself:

"So unless your playing with an extremely high resolution (eg:1920x1080) and a high sensitivity, 1000 dpi should satisfy even high sens gamers."  EXTREMELY high resolution?  What year is this?

Point 2 from the CS link (which btw was originally written in 1999 I believe, this is just a slightly modified copy from it. I played CS on a national competitive level for 10 years.) just makes the guy sound like a complete idiot.  As he states:

it was claimed that windows pointer speed should be kept at 6/11 and mouse DPI at maximum and only change your sensitivity in game. This is not entirely true. In fact, there is actually hardly any difference that you probably wont notice it if you use 1800 dpi with 3/11 (0.25) windows pointer speed and 450 dpi with 6/11 pointer speed.

IDIOT, does this guy have any idea how extrapolation/interpolation works?  This above statement can be easily disregarded with a simple program called MSPAINT.

28vKlMi.png

Look at all the extrapolation there!  Sensitivity in game does the same thing.  Where DPI will not interpolate or extrapolate.  Changing sensitivity does.  So all someone is doing by changing their sensitivity or their windows mouse settings it removing or adding data points, instead of a 1:1 ratio.

Don't listen to "Pro" gamers.  They are good because all the do is play, but I assure you most of them have zero idea how technology actually works.

But ultimately, as you said "choose what is best for you"  Everyone is different and likely someone that plays with 100 dpi at 70% sens, will get just as used to it as someone that plays with 7000 dpi and 1% sens.

All Im trying to explain is that these PRO/Youtubers who think they know all this shit about how data point work, dont know a damn thing.  They are good because they play alot.  Simple as that.  BTW, I would put myself up against any pro/youtuber any day of the week.  I've played against them and watched them, they are nothing special.  They usually just play carefully, and act for themselves and not the team.  I used to be like that.

1 v 1 me bro!

I'm jk. Good info I just don't think anyone has the "right" answer and is ultimately what people enjoy. By the way Frankie doesn't really play much so lol, kind of debunks that :P.

Oh and odd it's just not the map. :D. I'll find one that was sort of recent somewhere else. And I've also been hitting 13-20% with LMGs :P

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/battlereport/show/1/538803121056753984/185785827/ damn transport choppers destroying good accuracy lol!

CAN'T SOMEONE JUST TELL ME WHAT DO TO DO.

Just do what you feel is comfortable. If you can use lower dpi and sens and feel comfortable doing that then go that route or go higher dpi and lower sens or what oddjob has. Without getting in all the technicals that odd has gotten into I can say at least for me is that my aim is more precise and crisp where I have it and I could probably do a bit better with a lower DPI. Then again it depends on how your setup is etc.

I know I was just playing around. im still getting used to this new mouse to be honest. i gotta fine tune how i like it. i think the reason i like a little higher in game sensitivity is because i use more of a claw grip, and don't really like having to move my hand a whole bunch.

I use a palm grip so I know it's different per person. I've gotten accustomed to moving my mouse and hand quite a bit and I can still do 180s. Most of your engagements are usually 45 degree angles and sometimes 90, and sometimes someone gets a backrage. I've just really grown accustomed to how it feels lower and I'm sure others can say the same
