After work today, while I was walking back to my car, I completely wiped out on some ice. Both feet flew out in front of me and I landed on my ass. I had a few layers of clothes on, so I didn't hurt myself, but I laughed my ass off for a few minutes before driving home. Even with my hiking boots on, it didn't make a difference. It was great. Has anyone else wiped out this winter?

That's the thing, it is a tight alley and there was a car coming. I was moving to the side. They saw the whole thing. I wasn't even embarrassed, it was hilarious. I tried to grab the fence next to me and ripped my watch right off my wrist.

I've only eaten shit once this winter which pissed me off cuz I spent 3 years stationed up in Alaska and learned how to keep my footing and recover from a slip before it becomes a fall. Was getting out of my car after starting it up in the morning to warm it up and as I was getting out my first foot down went out right from underneath me and I fell back into my car giving myself a nice minor concussion. FU ice.

Fellow co-worker took a dive on the ice a couple of weeks ago. Twisted his ankle nicely. I haven't crashed this year (yet), but a few years ago I went down on my left shoulder & dislocated it. Doc in the ER popped it back in place after a blast of Norco buzzed me up. Just as soon not repeat that event.

I've fallen a new times one i wiped out on the stairs in the winter and hurt my wrist, lucky enough i didn't break anything. My dad fell a few years ago on some ice ended up having to have 3 surgeries on his knees because of it.

I feel bad for all of you living in cold icy conditions for so long every year, but sometimes we fall on beautiful sunny and warm days.  Three days ago my wife was walking in the middle of downtown. She was wearing some newer leather boots with one of those plastic heal protectors. She was crossing the street and once she reached the other side that fucking little heal protector just didn't want to grip on the new concrete just installed for a wheel chair ramp at the intersection. Just like on ice, her feet flew straight out in front of her, she went up in the air and came straight down on her tail bone. She's pretty banged up and bruised, but thankfully nothing broken that we know of. She said the worst part was that it was the busiest intersection in town and packed with people. Not a single person came to help her up or offer assitance, but she was ok with that hoping that maybe nobody actually saw her falling.

Falling sucks. The last time I fell hard was maybe 20 years ago while I was crushing a box to throw away. Came straight down on my arm and broke it.  Glad I don't live in cold climate, I'd probably be falling all of the time.
