Been into car audio ever since my first car, owned 2 systems before this but this is my first mid-level system. Gotta be some bassheads out there :stuart::whistle: A lot louder in person though, the iPad mic sucks >_<

I use to build custom sound systems in cars in the SF bay area. I built some of the first multi amped trucks seen in competition in the real early eighties. Then we went for true concert sound well balanced and clean. I quit building sound systems when I started seeing my clients readjusting the levels to do what they called then thumping.  Waste of my time and great equipment.

I have an amp for the mids and highs and an amp for the subs, nowadays it's really about SPL tbh, see who can get the most flex and stuff, or at least that's how it is around here. Can't wait to do my first hair trick

I love listening to my music in the car, and I always have the bass turned up to the highest, I don't have a sub but all of my speakers are after market and work great but it's something I want when I have money to spend.  I like pissing most people off, because there is nothing I hate more than the smug looking person on the highway driving like a dick.  I do turn my shit down when I'm in rural areas though

I have polks separates in my Z with a 10" sub which works out quite well in a 2 seater.  Have the HPF and LPF set just right for a Hi-Fidelity experience with a thumping tight bass.  Of course nothing beats Primus  "Jerry Was A Race Car Driver" for rocking the sub !!!  I always boost the sub for Primus !!!!

LOL believe it or not but I'M the old ( older) cough cough ,white guy you drive up next to and think that I would hate your loudness and beat . But i actually like good loud sound systems. But for me Its not about making the your car sound like your the guy collecting cans on the side of the road...... and having them rattling in the trunk.. lol I know all about spl and decibel comps.. But for me and many i grew up with, IT's not about blowing up the 15's in the back but making your car sound like Carnegie Hall, I just upgraded the system in my Yukon to a new 7 inch touch Kenwood and some new infinity kappa series and and you can close your eyes feel like you never in a car seat... Any who have fun warping your car so the windows leak and you go deaf by the time your 30, I get it , But spend the money on quality not distortion... Good luck.. Have fun...

I don't like thumping subs either that you can hear a mile away.  But a sub is key to getting Hi Fidelity sound in a car.  Its how you use it.   In the 70's when I first started driving.  I was the kid with the house speakers in the back and a power booster/graphic eq mounted beside the 8-Track.  But I drove a Olds 98 (2 door) and had the space for the speakers.  Car speakers kind of sucked in the early 70's.  But then the old tri-axle speakers started to appear and things started to change.  Better sound than stock, but not like house speakers in a car.  Then the old "Mind Blower" brand speakers came out and upped the game again.  Loud and clear and more bass than tri-axles, but still lacking in the bass area.   Then I thought, put a couple home speakers in the trunk along with the "Mind Blowers" mounted in the back deck.  And low and behold the "Hillbilly" sub was born.  And the overall sound was grand !!!   Like todays shit, but pre-historic versions  :)   Fun days back then.  Fill the tank, crank the jams and fire up some doobies.  Cruise all day and all night.  Man I miss that shit !!!

If the bass is so loud that it starts to distort the sound and vibrate the car... you need to rip that sub out imo.

If you ask me a system isnt good untill you can crank up to volume and the sound is still crystal clear. I have 8 pioneer speakers in my car totaling at 2000Watt, crystal clear sound but it vibrates the seats enough to put a smile on a ladies face, and a wet spot in her panties.

Yep I agree, the issue with that video is the audio input could not handle the output of the system, on the vehicle it sounds flawless.  I had to fix about 1/3 of my digital audio collection to accommodate the near perfect audio of this system.

The truck that I used way back then in competition was a 78 Toyota SR5 pick up . It had twin 10 inch subs built into the rear wall behind the seats 4 four inch midrange speakers built into the lower portion of the door. they covered a small portion of the bass

, dome tweeters in the upper section of the doors 5.5 coaxial speakers in the door pillars,  I used a Nachamichi TD 1200 head unit that went to a electric crossover EQ that controlled 5 amps built into the truck one mounted way up in the dash behind the glove box two under the passenger seat another under the drivers seat and a purpose built sub amp mounted to the lower section next to the seat at the door jam.  Small small interior in this truck. with test equipment it pushed 110 decibel's with no distortion through out the entire range.  to make this all work I had to have a custom alternator made for the truck with a higher output and squeeze in a larger battery. Had a couple of large capacitor in line for the bass and mid amps.  I used nothing but Focal speakers back then and to this day they make some of the best quality sounding speakers. All very high rated speakers for the 1 watt 1 meter specification.  I sold Alphasonic amps back then and used all there amps in this one. there amps were way under rated on true power output but were so clean.  fun stuff but I wonder at times why I have this continues ringing in my ears

I have a bass knob that allows me to adjust how hard the system is hitting, I only put it on that level to show that I can move quite a bit of air with the subs. I also have Rockford Fosgate 4x6s and 6x9s and a set of super tweeters. I can get crystal clear sound easily. I only have it on max if I'm at school showing off to friends or just trying to piss a person off.

@@D1nkelberg it was distorted on the mic, it's not distorted in real life.

@@bds1961 Man I'd love to have seen that!

Took my daughter to the beach last weekend and spent 20 minutes stuck in the middle of a mile long WWII era one lane tunnel because the traffic was backed up. Out of sheer boredom I rolled all of the windows down and cranked up my stereo with Boston Forepolay/Long-Time. People got out of their cars and were dancing. It was fun.

@@little_old_man What awesome taste in Music there LOM...the very first show I ever saw...at 14 was Boston... It was at Giants Stadium in NJ and it was

Boston, Poco, The Outlaws and Todd Rungren and Utopia....

I went for Boston but the whole billed rocked...favorite story and true as hell....It started raining just before the Outlaws came on....poured from most of the set....half way thru Green grass and high tides (no lie cross my heart) the sun came barreling out and the place went ballistic....

I always told my son how awesome the show was and how Boston blew up the stage and when the smoke cleared there was huge pipe organ like 30' high...he never believed me until he found this on youtube.

Great video Jon. They used to put on concerts here at the Oakland Coliseum called Day on the Green and I went to several of them.  In 1979 I saw Boston at a DOTG concert with Sammy Hagar and Eddie Money.
