Where I live its mostly dry weather, we get rainfall for 2-3 months of the year and occasionally I drive up to the mountains in the snow during winter. My car is a RWD with 258 lb/ft torque. Right now I have the Continental ContiProContact 245-40-17 and they're down to 2/32" tread in 3years giving me ~20K miles. I do tend to hit the gas pedal a bit just really enjoy that kick from the acceleration especially when getting on the ramp. I do go driving on curvy roads occasionally but about 8 0% of my driving is on straight stretches of highway. I have been reading reviews, specs on tirerack.com and other websites. From the looks of the Pirelli suits my driving style but I am concerned about their mileage rating. I am interested in the 91 V/W/Z rating. I was thinking of sticking with what I have right now but then I wondered if there is something better than these OEM tires. I will post pictures of the current front and rear tires. Thank you for reading. Edited March 24, 2015 by iboomboom
 Awards

I have used the Bridgestones and had great luck with them on my jeep that mostly lived on the road. a good performance tire is not going to give you high milage at all. Soft compounds wear fast. On my porsche years ago i only got about 8k per rear set and about 10k for the front but those where a true performance tire that was made for that particular rim and car by goodyear. poeple recomendations seem to run by brands they know, A lot of companies make great tires now. Depending on the weight of your car and how you really want to drive it side wall construction can be as important as the face of the tire. More sidewll plys make for a better turning car unless they are low profile. with that all said find a good furom on line for your make and modle of car and see what tires everyone else has had good luck with on a car that is the same as yours. Great tires, i do about 40K miles on a set, i drive a BMW328i and i love to hit the throttle when i have a stretch of open road. And basically these tires are Michelin B-grade tires. And the only reason they are B-grade is cause they make a tiny amount more noise. I use them for summer and winter, great grip during dry weather, enough grip in snowy situations (just dont floor it in the snow). Compared to Michelin prices they are about 25/30% cheaper. iboomboom and hxtr

There for a similar tire to what is on there would maintain what you are use to. If you move up to a more performance oriented tire that has a stiffer or lower sidewall it will give you better performance in the turns at the expense of a smooth ride, Like wise if you go with a touring tire it will be comfortable and quite but may be a little bit looser in the turns. I use to drive on average about 40k miles per year in the SF bay area. Most of those mile were put on my 2005 jeep grand Cherokee with the 5.7 hemi. After I wore the first set of tires out ( in 1 Year ) I put some Goodyear tires on it that were supposed to be good all around tires, It wondered all over the place like a fat woman in a candy store. The tires sucked big time. It wasn't the brand but the design of them. The same went for my Porsche, originally it had Goodyear tires that were specifically made for that year and rim ( 1988 euro spec 930 ) that no one else manufactured for. those tires were only good for about 6 to 8 k miles (super soft compound) a few years after having the car another manufacturer made a tire that would fit the car. Bought a set put them on and after about 600 miles took them right off. they were half the price of the Goodyear's and only provided about half the traction. Seeing that you like high speed bursts I go back with a minimum of what came with it. you know already what they will do at high speed .
