I have followed the discovery and reburial of Richard III for a few years. It is an unprecedented and truly once in a lifetime event to witness. I watched this youtube clip from the BBC presenting the reburial on TV. I was really surprised that the actual ceremony was so simple, but the thing that really surprised me is I didn't see any royal family members there. After all, a King is being buried and I know you guys are big on the Royals and all of the accompanying ceremonies. So my questions are: Why weren't there any royal family members there, and why was the ceremony so simple? Is it because he was on the wrong side of the War of the Roses, or perhaps because he killed the princes? I'm just curious.

couldnt agree with you more. Canada has been paying off the royal family for years because we're part of the monarchy, my opinion is its time to dump the royals and become our own independent country. Why should a queen whom could care less about canada, have final say over anything she wants. Oust the royals and bury the spectacle Edited by KingStinger!

Because Richard III claim to the throne is based on unverifiable events surrounding the disappearance of the two rightful heirs, the princes in the tower. The Royal family is muck and they have distanced themselves from all of this as findings can jeopardise their position.

This is why the queen will never authorise DNA studies on the bones found in the tower, thought to be from the two princes.

That is very interesting @@Blaze. I figured this was a snub in some way. I'm still amazed at how relatively quiet your press was over this. I have always wondered how legitimate the current royals are. I remember learning about the war of the roses and two princes in history class and have always been interested. I went to high school in a small town called Lake Havasu. It has the distinction of having relocated and rebuilt your London Bridge, complete with a tiny English village (fake) with a Pub (LOL) Anyway, for a time there was a wax museum with historical scenes from your history. Among which was a rather in-depth display and story about the two princes. I remember the finger pointing clearly to Richard III. I was surprised when @@EDD THE DUCK and I toured the Tower of London and the Beef Eater told us they thought they found the bones of the Princes during renovations. I thought, now we will get to the bottom of this. I didn't know the Queen wouldn't authorize DNA testing. It's interesting that the police can't treat this as a possible murder situation and test the bones on their own. How about that! Modern day royals covering up a murder. Just like their ancestors LOL! Fascinating! What can I say, I'm a history buff.

Thanks for the info @@Blaze.

The police are not an independent body, they are essentially an extension of the queens guards. All the judicial system is geared towards protecting the crowns interests. Even the democratic government is, in her words... "My government".

Don't you find it odd that people line the streets cheering when Her Majesty and other members of her family are to pass?

You need to do your homework on the economics of the Royal family before asserting that they are a "drain", I suggest.

Excuse me but Canada is an independent sovereign state and has chosen to retain a constitutional monarch as its Head of State.

That Her Majesty is Queen of both Canada and the UK (and, indeed, many other places) doesn't mean that Canada is, in any way,

ruled by the UK...  See the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_Act_1982

Poppycock!

The independence of the police is guaranteed by constables' status as sworn officers under the Crown.

Of course the government is [her] government - she is the Head of State for crying out loud!

I would just like to add one more thing:

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

Richard  was only on the wrong side because he lost Codpiece, there are still many questions about his role in the killing of 12 year old Edward V  and his 9 year old brother Richard the Duke of York, who he was Lord Protector over, he had them taken to the Tower of London to stop them taking power and where they were both executed, many believe at Richards own hand, don't see why any Royals needed to be at the funeral, they are from a different Lineage i think, i really don't know what the fuss was all about, i mean this happened about 600 years ago, he was probably a bit of a scumbag anyway lol.

thats the facade of the whole thing. If we were independent we would no longer have a House of Commons nor would we have a speaker of the House of Commons whom is the direct representative of the queen. The same speaker that had to call upon the queen to decide on an issue out political parties couldn't resolve only a couple years ago. We are far from separate state and are still being milked by her regularly..

It's strange that you think the Queen has power over Canada, she don't even have any powers in the UK, people will post here and say she has but she is only a figurehead, we like to pretend that she has powers but she ain't lol.

@@Sonovabich The Monarch has the power to overrule government. She also decides who gets peerages so is directly in charge of who gets a seat in the house of lords. The house of commons can do quite precisely fuck all without it being agreed by the house of lords. The Magna Carta was repealed in it's entirety and is meaningless these days.

I remember seeing them on the news after getting home from work. Amazing all these people who have the time during work to pop out and wish the bitch well during her farcical and expensive ceremonies.

As for doing our research on the economics of the Royal Family (a Daily Mail reader?) I suggest you read this.... https://republic.org.uk/sites/default/files/wortheverypenny.pdf

I have to ask where you have assimilated this "encyclopaedic" knowledge?

See: http://www.parliament.uk/about/how/laws/parliamentacts/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peerage

http://www.royal.gov.uk/monarchuk/howthemonarchyworks/whatisconstitutionalmonarchy.aspx

I do not preclude the possibility that "Blaze" is actually a pseudonym of Sitting duc and he is

trying to get his own back for my seeing through his April Fool joke... :stuart:

Ridiculous, the Monarchy in Great Britain has slowly had it's powers eroded for centuries now, not since Charles the first has a Monarch had the power to overrule a British Government but they soon put paid to that by lopping his head off, as i said the Queen is just a figurehead with barely any powers at all, the House of Lords also does not govern our country, anyway Deejaykeg has put you right on the subject in his last post, you should calm down telling Keggy to fuck off and go live somewhere else, i stopped getting my knickers in a twist over the Royal family a long time ago, it's not worth it, there will never be a revolution in Britain, if there ever was going to be a revolution it would have happened centuries ago, if they held a referendum to remove the Royal Family it would be a complete failure, probably a landslide in the Royals favour, people in Britain want them it seems, we have much more to worry about then the Royal Family ie the many so called British subjects who would like to  behead us or strap bombs to themselves and blow the shit out of us,  the Royal Family shouldn't even raise a ripple on the richter scale after that.

Ok I am %100 proud to be British, Proud of our Armed Forces that keep me and my family safe and a Loyal supporter of our Queen and her family.

And I am sorry @@Blaze but if you did Real Research you would discover that she makes her own money and pay's Tax from the royal estate's same as Prince Charles and lets not forget Princess Anne who generates millions from her estate and Horse Breeding.

These so called Leeches bring Billions of revenue and thousands of jobs in this country so I would suggest if any one should Fuck off it should be you and people like you who do not support this country and what it stands for..

This is why this country is so Fucked up because their is no Loyalty or pride anymore for this great nation of ours.

BRITISH AND PROUD and if anyone does not like it Fuck off
