So My computer worked fine for a long time, but I needed to get a new motherboard to upgrade my processor which was an am3+ socket type and my motherboard only accepted am3 socket types, So I got the motherboard, hooked everything up right, and put my new processor but after that it will boot up fine, and recognize the changes and load windows but right before it hits the password screen my computer will blue screen for a fraction of a second and reboot over and over and over, I don't know what is causing this, I was thinking it was a software issue since I change the motherboard but it shouldnt cause a blue screen or stop me from logging in. To counter this problem I bought a new copy of windows 7 and start from scratch again but before I do that I want to get some second opinions on what to do. I also need to get a new case because the current one is to small to fit the heat sink I purchased for the CPU which will have a huge amount of heat since it's pulling give or take 220W. I would look into the following things: 1) Check your clock settings for safe values. Try dialing back the clock to see if it becomes more stable. AMD clocking structure can be very confusing at times and it's easy to overlook one of the settings. Something could be way higher than it should be and that will cause a lot of instability. 2) Disable any "turbo" or "boost" modes for the processor. Those are efficiency / power saving features that you can worry about later. They have been known to create instabilities when getting everything config'd correctly. 3) Run Memtest86 live boot. If you can "POST" the mobo then run a live boot of memtest and make sure the memory is stable. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I can not stress this enough. Its all about voltage regulation through the mobo and processor its self and drivers too. Just to be safe take out and re mount the RAM/aka memory sticks. Then proceed to set your boot priorty to all cd/dvd in bios settings. Then do fresh install. I bet it will be fine after this. It's too bad you could not use the old copy you already had but oh well. A 5% speed boost for 20% more power consumption, 30% less stablility, and 50% more expensive system never really seemed like a good trade to me. AMD sells a version of the CPU that comes with a water cooler, part number FD9370FHHKWOX. Like you, I did not purchase their water cooler. I've tried the Corsair H80, it cooled just slightly better than what you can get with air. The radiator just isn't big enough, however, you can add a second fan on the outside of your case to increase the air-flow. My son system has this configuration, which greatly improves the efficiency of the H80. For me, it still wasn't good enough. I ended up with the Corsair H100i. This thing keeps my CPU very cool. Unless there was a way to seal off the electrical components in case of disaster I would feel like I was taking an unacceptable risk. More than Likely it was in IDE mode before.If it is set to AHCI in Bios and it was Installed in IDE mode it will Try to load but Crash every time.There's no need to run in AHCI mode unless you have an SSD that wants it.Even then you can set 2 to run in AHCI and 2 to run in IDE.A normal mechanical HDD should be set to IDE mode. Went through the same thing with the motherboard in my spare PC.I went from an AM2+ Asus M4A87TD 870/SB870 to a AM3+ Asus Sabertooth 990fx Rev2.0 AMD 990FX/SB950 BTW I HATE UEFI Bios.WAAAAAAAYYY to much SHIT in Advanced mode for me to fuck up.Especially in the Higher end Loaded boards.
