Ok, so first off this really annoys me because I know a lot about computers but I know I'm not the smartest person in the world and I need help lol.  So My computer worked fine for a long time, but I needed to get a new motherboard to upgrade my processor which was an am3+ socket type and my motherboard only accepted am3 socket types, So I got the motherboard, hooked everything up right, and put my new processor but after that it will boot up fine, and recognize the changes and load windows but right before it hits the password screen my computer will blue screen for a fraction of a second and reboot over and over and over, I don't know what is causing this, I was thinking it was a software issue since I change the motherboard but it shouldnt cause a blue screen or stop me from logging in.  To counter this problem I bought a new copy of windows 7 and start from scratch again but before I do that I want to get some second opinions on what to do.  I also need to get a new case because the current one is to small to fit the heat sink I purchased for the CPU which will have a huge amount of heat since it's pulling give or take 220W.  Any Suggestions or questions?  And as always thanks for the help, unless it's Duck, any advise from duck will make my computer explode

This really doesn't sound like a software issue.

I would look into the following things:

1) Check your clock settings for safe values. Try dialing back the clock to see if it becomes more stable. AMD clocking structure can be very confusing at times and it's easy to overlook one of the settings. Something could be way higher than it should be and that will cause a lot of instability.

2) Disable any "turbo" or "boost" modes for the processor. Those are efficiency / power saving features that you can worry about later. They have been known to create instabilities when getting everything config'd correctly.

3) Run Memtest86 live boot. If you can "POST" the mobo then run a live boot of memtest and make sure the memory is stable.

ANY time buying a new mobo and processor, you really really REALLY always should do a fresh install. I can not stress this enough. Its all about voltage regulation through the mobo and processor its self and drivers too. Just to be safe take out and re mount the RAM/aka memory sticks. Then proceed to set your boot priorty to all cd/dvd in bios settings. Then do fresh install. I bet it will be fine after this. It's too bad you could not use the old copy you already had but oh well. As long as you bought a new one then why not. Feel free to keep pestering until we can figure out whats up.

Well I just said fuck it and used my old sata to usb to get my cod4 shit off and that's all I was really wanting anyway and re-installed windows because I usually do when I buy a brand new part like Mobo, HDD, Graphics card or CPU, I just wanted to put it off, but I can't keep my computer on long right now because I'm running a stock heatsink right now because the heatsink I purchased for it doesn't fit the case so tomorrow I'm buying a new case returning the heatsink and getting a water cooled, I don't want my CPU over 55 C but it will be hard to accomplish that with an FX 9370 8-Core 4.4Ghz 220W, if I have any money to spare I think I will get 16gb 1600 or 1866 Mhz ddr3 ram to top it off

I need some opinions on this before I get it, I've always used Fan cooling, and haven't went to liquid cooling before to be honest, I've always overclocked my CPU without needing to go to liquid even with the FX 8350 I had it only pulled 125W, but the 9370 pulls 220W.  I was getting around 60C idle with a stock fan which is awful, If I played BF4 it would kill my new CPU This is the water cooling unit I was looking at

Those closed systems are getting really popular.  I've always been an air cool guy but I also don't over clock. A 5% speed boost for 20% more power consumption, 30% less stablility, and 50% more expensive system never really seemed like a good trade to me.

Been there tweaked that. Didn't understand why people still do this to perfectly good equipment. The outcome is.....less than impressive. But but enjoy!

I have used the second one listed above with no problems for a couple years now.

That's good but your CPU doesn't push 220W probably around 85 that's why I'm trying to get some opinions because I have no clue if it will keep good enough temps

AMD recommends that you water cool your 9370 processors and above. AMD sells a version of the CPU that comes with a water cooler, part number FD9370FHHKWOX. Like you, I did not purchase their water cooler.

I've tried the Corsair H80, it cooled just slightly better than what you can get with air. The radiator just isn't big enough, however, you can add a second fan on the outside of your case to increase the air-flow. My son system has this configuration, which greatly improves the efficiency of the H80. For me, it still wasn't good enough. I ended up with the Corsair H100i. This thing keeps my CPU very cool. I'm not overclocked.

Good luck!

Still not comfortable with water cooling. One liquid explosion and you are fucked. But, next major system upgrade I know I will have to get past that and install one.

I think that's why the new closed loop coolers are so popular. They are less prone to leaking.

Less prone but not foolproof. Unless there was a way to seal off the electrical components in case of disaster I would feel like I was taking an unacceptable risk. I guess it would be the same as the standard methods if the chance of leakage would be applied to the chance of fire.

Was your Hard Drive/Drives setup to run in AHCI or IDE mode before you swapped the motherboard?

More than Likely it was in IDE mode before. If it is set to AHCI in Bios and it was Installed in IDE mode it will Try to load but Crash every time. There's no need to run in AHCI mode unless you have an SSD that wants it.Even then you can set 2 to run in AHCI and 2 to run in IDE.A normal mechanical HDD should be set to IDE mode.

Went through the same thing with the motherboard in my spare PC.I went from an AM2+ Asus M4A87TD 870/SB870 to a AM3+ Asus Sabertooth 990fx Rev2.0 AMD 990FX/SB950

BTW I HATE UEFI Bios.WAAAAAAAYYY to much SHIT in Advanced mode for me to fuck up.Especially in the Higher end Loaded boards.

What AM3+ Motherboard did you get? Some are not compatible with the 220 Watt chips unless you Update the Bios.

go with iH100

where your ballz ........    leak's  happen for a reason, people going over their head of understanding how things work

Cylon: tip make sure the tube's are closest to the ceiling,,, so pump/block won't get air locked

Sammy  I've done  soaking the whole inside of my case, when I pulled a decaying tube when pump was on that flooded everything  and computer  shut down with blank screen

stripped  all out of case  let dry for  2 days  all was working but 2 hdd's  after a year later  they were working fine when I tested before trashing them

it's a waiting game with spills  IMHO

It was just software compatibility issues because I went from an Asus Mobo am3 socket to a Fatality 970 am3+ socket Mobo, I reinstalled windows and everythings fine =)

I got everything set up and working, I'm around 45ish give or take Idle right now, which isn't horrible now I have to figure out why my ram can't handle being at 1600 Mhz and clocked it's self down to 1066.  I think I just need to get 16gb of 1866Mhz and get a cooler for it too
