Alright so i was on this morning round 1am or so before i went to bed, usually I leave my computer on in sleep mode, well got up about 6am like usual and go out to see my computer on, but non respnsive, the cpu itsel is on and all the little lights on front that usually blink when processing are all on in solid, no blinking, monitor acts like its in sleep mode and keyboard lights are off as if not recieving power, so hard restart the computer and it doesnt even bring up the bios load like it normally does every boot, just solid blackness, lights on solid, no fans running or anything, im currently on my wife, archaic laptop (shes not big on computers she just uses it for bill, etc) any help would be appreciated at this point cause im at a total loss of what to do. I was having an issue with my video card, could this be a problem, i wasnt sure cause if it was, i thought that the processer and etc would still work just wouldnt be able to see anythig, anyways any help is appreciated thank you.

most likely its the video card. If you want to mail it to me i can fix that for you. or try....if you know someone with a pc maybe you could take your video card to them and install it in theres just to see if it boots and they have video. Sometime you can take the video card and memory out and just put it back in. If you dont have fans running in your pc you may have more problems......

Hi Gaberial you wouldn't happen to have the Specs. for the machine you are using. Like what kind of PSU. Processor, Memory Type DDR2 or DDR3, Motherboard model, also any third party heatsink, how many Fans, how many Hard Drives and Optic Drives, are you using a lot different USB devices connected to the machine. All this information is Helpful in making a determination of the problem. But for now with what you have posted, I will agree with LaRSin it might be the PSU.

I hate to correct you guys.. but he stated the when he tried to power on.... nothing came on.. no fans or anything.. thats not a graphics card issue.. that would be a power supply issue.

a simple power variation can fk your entire system

"Lights on solid" - so powersupply DOES aparently give power

Had that same problem after a major problem on one of the two 9800 GTX I had installed in SLI config..... Took the bad card out, put the good one in the first slot - 2 weeks later same problem, second card OOO too - tried a cheap 250 NVidia during 2 months, no problem, and now running since 1 1/2 year with 295 GTX dual core card - problems gone.  Probably the SLI strap (or the typical Caribbean humidity on it ) was the origin of the loss of 2 the  9800 GTX-es.....   Just try all the steps described above.... a UPS is more than important, but to go for shure get youself an old videocard to expermiment...

alright on the laptop fully till tommarow, fans do boot up and and blow like crazy, everyonce in a while it will boot up correctly after i disconnetct everything and reattach it, (video card, power card, etc) I was already planning on pickin up the videocard tommarow (my old one, from what me and jack discussed, was causing a majority of the isues) and hopefully that should fix it, the main reason i dont think its the power supply (My opinion, not neccesarly correct) is that it will come on everyonce in a while, the monitor is working plugged into the laptop and it worked, i have one harddrive, ond dvd writer, and thats about it.
