MTDew said he has a mother board

She has an old AMD 939 processor so unless we change-good luck with that, haven't seen one in two years --it is very limited. MTDEW  has an intel 680i board but we need to come up with a processor--someone had 1 but i think they sent it to Rick James for a server. So don't know

Y'all guys are great ! What I have that should still be good is processor 4000 socket 939, its the most that board would hold, I have ddr ram 2 and a pci-e video card, its old but it worked for me. It was fast enough to play decent, but I don't think it would have been for a more advanced game. The case is a gaming case, I forgot who makes it and I have a bigger power supply. I'll tell you this, it's like going thru dt's when your pc is gone. It's been down since the day before my birthday on the 10th. I thought it was some simple but it turned out it wasn't. Does anyone know how to get the data off a sata hard drive, all my pictures, passwords, reciepts etc are on that drive, I was told if I put it on another board I would lose everything. I should have made back up disks I know. I really dislike losing all those things. Thank you all.

Your data's good. You will not lose it connecting the drive to another board. You'll have to update some drivers, but no sweat. If you're really concerned, bring the new board up on a new drive and put your current drive in as secondary.

I have never done this before is there like a third party that we send to or do we need addresses?? paypal?? Even better wizid-- I can send you my cooler and some dough  to help with shipping. Baldie said he would pitch in a little also- if you are gonna do the work--which is very awesome of you. The least we can do is make it so your not out any dough --is that cool, or what would you need?

The help ist here :)  so great! Again great offer WiZiD ! I know it costs alot to ship to or back to USA.

She just might need to make some pictures, maybe by her webcam OF THE COMPUTER (lol) and describe to us what can work. I suspect that she got DDR(1) memory sticks, PCI-E videocard and a working powersupply?

Blacky ...can you do some work for us?

Info's , pictures...anything?

Make a list please and can help to get lesser costs or a better system.

I think it's ddr2, but I'll take one of them out and check. I can take some pictures of it also. But I'll probably need help in loading them here on the website. The pc repairman that I have used for years told me he would put it in for me for about 70 dollars.  He said everything esle should be good. I'll take pictures of the whole inside. If anyone wants to talk to me, pm me and I'll give you my number, thanks again yall .

Wow 70dollars...thats alot actually to just use like 8 screws to put it in and hook up 6 wires.

I don't know how it turns out but please talk to WiZiD and might be cheaper as he might have parts that you can use.

If you email the pictures ( to modest71 @ hotmail .com) I can edit your post and get them placed.

Can you look at the old motherboard what brand and type it is please? Based on that we can look what DDR support it got.

A hot bath would be nice, it's chilly here. lol.. Okay I looked its not ddr2,I have 4 512 sticks of ddr. I took pictures, but I can't get the card reader to work on her pc, so when she gets home I'll get her to do it. The 70 dollars didn't include any parts, that was just putting the motherboard and processor in plus removing the old one and me doing the rest. I pretty much know how to do the rest of it. Mounting the board and putting the processor in is something I've never done.  I know how to use a screwdriver tho, if it's only 8 screws I might could do it. I'll post the pics as soon as she gets home tho.

Blacky, if you open up case and look at it.. you see the mounted screws and if you take it out, you can take it in.

The hardest part is not to do it ;)

I could do then, but don't you have to use some type of heat glue for the processor? She can't my card reader to work on her pc either, but I'll figure out some way to get them posted. I have to let her have her pc for now. I'll try to get those pics on a little later. thanks again !

Normally, and depens who build your old pc, but what I know is that for some people they can not do the job right to use the thermal paste for the cpu right. So .. if you take the cooler off, you have to see if the ammount is right. The coolerpaste is JUST to cover the microscope scatches to fit between the cpu & cooler. I bet there is to much on it(half a rice piece).

Send pictures if you want by XFire or email.

I just sent my address to blackcat. Hopefully she has the funds for mailing. Please before anyone donates parts let me see what it needs and what I have to save us all some funds. If any one whats to send funds to blackcat to help her with the cost of mailing...that would be cool. Im thinking it may cost about $80 but thats just a guess. The sooner you send it the sooner you will be back to the game.

blackcat could you please bring your PC to a postal center to find out what it will cost?   Thanks

Hey BlackCat I agree with X-Ray your PC repair person is charging to much for a simple install. Your best bet is to ship your mother board to Wizid. Remember always ground yourself out before touching anything inside your machine, it's easy just unplug all the power from the machine and touch the side of your power supply, then disconnect all the cables and when you have a clear view of the mother board, then remove the screws to take up the MOBO. Do not remove the processor or the heatsink connected to it, that is a big NO NO for a novice builder. Also it might be something as simple as a Bad Power Supply or a bad memory chip. If you need help shipping the items to Wizid please PM if you have a Paypal account we can get this done right away. Oh and shipping is easy if need be, ask your quote un-quote PC repair person for a Mother Board Static bag before shipping. By the way you got to love this Idiot family of ours they are the best.
