WHAAAAT?!?!? I wouldn't think anyone would know GBV!! Holy shit! I absolutely LOVE these guys.

I saw them play here in....'96? They had their styrofoam cooler full of Budweiser and a 40lb'er of Wild Turkey in front of the drum kit. Bob was drankin' like a fiend, doing leg kicks and twirling his mic around in the air like a yoyo. Classic Bob.

After their initial set, they came back out and played a 3 song encore to everyone's delight. Went off stage, had a couple puffs off of a cig, and then came back out for a SECOND encore. Everyone was loving it. Then...they came out a THIRD time and played more songs! People were losing their minds!!! And, you guessed it, they came out for a FOURTH encore to play more!! The promoter actually turned on the house lights!! But that didn't stop ol' Bob! He kept singing, grabbing people from the audience and bringing them on stage to sing along. What a hell of a show!!! Such a great memory haha!!!

Here's one of my faves...

Kindred spirits my man!  I only saw them once up in the Dayton, Ohio area where they're from probably that same tour.. 95-96ish.  Was a good show from what I remember - they didn't go super encore mode on that show.  That sounds awesome!

Big fan of many genres of music, but I spent so much time in the 90's listening to alternative and indie music from an awesome college radio station out of Oxford, OH that went by the call signal WOXY, 97.X - "The future of rock n' roll..."  which got a little notoriety from the movie Rain Man, partially filmed here in Cincy.  Anyway, GBV was a staple on that station.  Fond memories!

Oh man...of course! GBV is from Dayton! Ffs how did I NOT put 2 and 2 together???:fool:

That reference to WOXY is great haha! And yeah I not only listened to a ton of indie "alternative" in the 90s, I spent SO much money on CDs. I have like...$20,000 in coasters worth basically nothing now. And I went to as many shows as I could back then. I think my record one week was...6 shows? I even went to 2 in one night! Oh how I wish I could relive those days...

Speaking of 90s...MAN did I ever have a crush on Chan Marshall...

Oh man great tune. I assume you know this? This song was originally written by the great Townes Van Zandt (he's in the video at 1:01 and several other times). Here's his version from the documentary "Heartworn Highways":

Unfortunately, it's relevant again...always will be, considering human nature...well probably always will be.

Floyd's 'Barn Jams', recorded in converted barns on Gilmour's property are a nice discovery; filmed while the personable Mr. Wright still graced our presence.  Gilmour's riffing on the steel guitar with Richard expertly supporting is a treat.  As an aside: Gilmour even has a recording studio on his private boat.

One of the more interesting things I see on modern concert footage is how almost everybody has their smart phones out taking video.  When its dark, all those little screens create a pretty interesting visual effect from a cinematography standpoint. Of course back in the day such things were pretty frowned upon.

Hate to say it but never knew about the Barn Jams and had to look it up. Its a shame there isnt a dedicated album(s) devoted to them all.

Move aside The Simpsons, apparently ICP are profits too? Or not.. Just seems fitting regardless of the outlet. :ermm:
