A 92 year old Kentucky man (WW2 Vet) dropped an intruder with a single shot from a 22.

Kids today don't seem to realize that some of those "old" people they intend on robbing killed dozens or many dozens of people during the war, and won't hesitate to pop a cap in their stupid asses of they get scared or pissed off.

Finally proper justice in the UK as well......... Welby farm shooting: Couple will not face charges........ http://news.sky.com/...ot-face-charges

But what f***in' pisses me right off is that two traumatised victims of crime, once again, have been treated like scum criminals! :realmad:

They have been arrested, fingerprinted, photographed and DNA taken then held in (I can guarantee this - I used to run one!) smelly, uncomfortable conditions in a custody centre where they'd have been deprived of basic comforts and distractions (like TV). Though released without charge,

they will be unable to apply for deletion of their records for SIX years!

The b*st*rds that broke into their home and received an appropriate "greeting" are all still alive so why were these innocents locked up for nearly two f***in' days?! :realmad:

It shouldn't take the slowest of lawyers that long to work out they aren't criminally liable. I assert such people should NOT be arrested! :realmad:

DJ, that crap used to go on in the US a bunch, still in some places. People got tired of it and the laws changed quite a bit. Make my day laws, stand your ground, concealed carry laws. People get tired of being run over by the criminals and the courts. With concealed carry laws people tend to be a bit more careful about who they piss off and for what reason. Anyway the police usually show up to take crime reports and they can't be everywhere all the time so people have decided to not take that crap anymore. In Oklahoma if you are caught in someone's house without permission the home owner has the right to kill you and the police and courts won't do much about it. A friend was attacked on the streets by two drunks here. They knocked him down after he told them he did not want trouble. Anyway when the second guy attacked him he shot them both from the ground. Killed one and sent the other to the hospital. The police showed up and asked him for ID. Gave him his weapon back and told him to have a nice day. He was at work the next day. Things can change although I think the people in the UK have a much larger battle than here. You guys have given up way too many rights. But things can change.

I can only wish that Australia had the same gun laws that you enjoy in the states!

Cheers

As always happens in these cases (there are not many of them so it can be years between outcries), there are calls for the law to be changed over here. The proponents are talking about raising the bar for the criminal so only "disproportionate" force against him would be punished. I don't see how this would stop victims being treated like criminals. There needs to be an understanding and a change of practice by the police. At the moment, the way the victims are being treated is like locking up a rape victim for soliciting then deciding two days later, "OK you were raped after all"! It just is not right.

well all these stories made me think of this one...

At the 1994 annual awards dinner given by the American Association for Forensic Science, AAFS President Don Harper Mills astounded his audience in San Diego with the legal complications of a bizarre death. Here is the story.

"On 23 March 1994, the medical examiner viewed the body of Ronald Opus and concluded that he died from a shotgun wound of the head. The decedent had jumped from the top of a ten- story building intending to commit suicide (he left a note indicating his despondency). As he fell past the ninth floor, his life was interrupted by a shotgun blast through a window, which killed him instantly. Neither the shooter nor the decedent was aware that a safety net had been erected at the eighth floor level to protect some window washers and that Opus would not have been able to complete his suicide anyway because of this." >>"Ordinarily," Dr. Mills continued, "a person who sets out to commit suicide ultimately succeeds, even though the mechanism might not be what he intended. That Opus was shot on the way to certain death nine stories below probably would not have changed his mode of death from suicide to homicide. But the fact that his suicidal intent would not have been successful caused the medical examiner to feel that he had homicide on his hands. "The room on the ninth floor whence the shotgun blast emanated was occupied by an elderly man and his wife. They were arguing and he was threatening her with the shotgun. He was so upset that, when he pulled the trigger, he completely missed his wife and the pellets went through the a window striking Opus.

"When one intends to kill subject A but kills subject B in the attempt, one is guilty of the murder of subject B. When confronted with this charge, the old man and his wife were both adamant that neither knew that the shotgun was loaded. The old man said it was his long-standing habit to threaten his wife with the unloaded shotgun. He had no intention to murder her - therefore, the killing of Opus appeared to be an accident. That is, the gun had been accidentally loaded.

"The continuing investigation turned up a witness who saw the old couple's son loading the shotgun approximately six weeks prior to the fatal incident. It transpired that the old lady had cut off her son's financial support and the son, knowing the propensity of his father to use the shotgun threateningly, loaded the gun with the expectation that his father would shoot his mother. The case now becomes one of murder on the part of the son for the death of Ronald Opus.

There was an exquisite twist. "Further investigation revealed that the son [Ronald Opus] had become increasingly despondent over the failure of his attempt to engineer his mother's murder. This led him to jump off the ten-story building on March 23, only to be killed by a shotgun blast through a ninth story window.

"The medical examiner closed the case as a suicide."
