They weren't the "good old days" for all. They weren't safer but just as dangerous as today. The only difference is that we hear more bad news today due to improved communications. If you can remember your childhood joyfully, I am happy for you. Just don't think it was the same for everyone - I can assure you it was not.

yessssss... I made it... lol ;%29.gif

I have been often thinking that the prevention of illness and faults and all elctic stuff which is supposed to make life easier is not good for this generation and lets them not develope and improve this society.

And now.... back to the safe harmless relaxing games on the server... so i dont need to move....lol;%29.gif

I'd go back to the 1950's, 60's and 70's in a heartbeat if I could. Sanity and common sense has taken a backseat to emotional thinking and the entitlement mentality of today. In retrospect they absolutely were the good old days in many ways.

They weren't the "good old days" for all. They weren't safer but just as dangerous as today. The only difference is that we hear more bad news today due to improved communications. If you can remember your childhood joyfully, I am happy for you. Just don't think it was the same for everyone - I can assure you it was not.

I have no doubt that those years weren't the best for everybody, but society as a whole was much more simple then and I think better. I was born in 1960 and had a great childhood. I think everything changed in the late 1970's and early 1980's when we began to see several highly publicized kidnappings and more child abductions off the streets by pedophiles. Until the mid 1970's you just never heard about these things happening then all of a sudden parents started refusing to let their kids out to play. I played and wandered around my neighborhood from the age of 5, and by the time my first was born in 1990, we barely let them out of our sight.

We had a very famous kidnapping in my town in 1993 of a young girl named Polly Klaas. She was having a slumber party with 2 other girls and a man came into her bedroom window in the middle of the night, took Polly, raped and killed her. That one kidnapping changed parents outlook forever and our kids are paying the price with less freedom. Yes they're safe, but at what cost? They don't know how to be independent and are afraid to take risks of any kind.

I love it n1 Johnny, unfortunately kids are not allowed outside that much now even if we could drag them off their PC's TV's and MOBILE PHONES, too many perverts about, if we had hung some of these fuckers a while back it might be those that were afraid to leave their houses and not the kids.

I would agree some had it harder than others for sure... i can hardly imagine what it would be like growing up on very unfriendly streets... i feel ya here pal, but as oldman hints at, there was certainly a sense of innocence in those days unlike today. I feel we have lost our children's innocence through out the ages....

Well, I was born in 1969 and, honestly, I had a nearly perfect childhood. I am very lucky in that regard. My parents would kick us out of the house - if you got caught in the house in the summer then you got extra chores. I basically grew up on the Zumbro River, and me and my friends all thought we were Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer. We built rafts that we drifted miles downstream so we could fish parts of the river we couldn't get to by foot. We snuck on private property so we could fish the old sand and gravel pits for huge (to us) bass. We made homemade bows and spears to shoot carp in the spring. We had a tree fort and an underground hidden in the woods and we all had pellet guns. We caught snakes by the bushel, killed bullheads with firecrackers, caught our own worms for bait and knew every single inch of that river. I wouldn't trade my childhood for anything. I wish everyone would get the kind of childhood I had.
