Well as some of you know I've had problems with my knee for the past 2 years.  In fact 2 years to today is when I blew my knee out.  Four operations later and my doctor says that he can't fix my knee with surgery.  To make matters worse workers comp will not allow me to seek another opinion on the matter.  They have scheduled a functional evaluation of my knee to asses disability rating. I can't walk without a crutch and my knee is so unstable is just gives out at random times. My rehab people suggest that I will get a full disabled rating.  I would rather have a knee replacement and avoid the other shit if possible.  It seems that workers comp has manipulated the doctor in their favor in my opinion.  I do have a lawyer on my case but if there is any advice anyone can give me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ,  Twinkie

go and get a second opinion anyway... i know cost might be a big issue, but if walking is the issue... then it is your quality of life at stake.

when they do your dissability evaluation, i would also make sure you have some representation present... don't know what, but it would help.

These days they replace whole hips... don't see why they cant replace your knee with a titanium one.

Well for sure they will if u allow them....In the past I hand hyper extended my right wrist and crushed my 4th and 5th meta carples and cracked my ulna bone.....

Well long story short workman's comp was only willing to pay a cheap fix with there doctors so
answer for me was I had high end insurance and frankly told them to go fuck themselves and went out to find the BEST
hand surgeon in my region turns out I met a Dr.Peter Townsend (The Who) no relation of course but he helped in

developing Arthroscopic Surgery and had patents on most tools that are used in this manner today...Well repairs to

my wrist were not possible But he did what he could and did very well with it .....I have limited moved but no pain at all

unless I use the little fingers too much which are no longer connected at the wrist....Find the best you can and get the

best available....My insurance later sued workers comp with out any attorneys form me and were compensated

I would say a Sports Doctor is what you need that is what Dr. Peter Townsend was in

All the Best

Thats what I thought but it seems that workers comp has run the numbers and I'm sure they will do the cheapest thing for them.  As for my quality of life, it sucks now. I know that there are many people out there that are in worse shape than me but I have to be a little selfish right now.  I cant walk.  I dont have a college degree. I know that is all my fault but without the use of my leg my work opportunities are very limited unless someone just takes pity on me and gives me a job and works with me with my new disability.  I guess I will have to adjust to this new life.  Please don't misunderstand me I have nothing against people with disabilities of any kind.  I just never thought my knee injury would result in a full disability for me at 34. I have a great understanding and supportive wife to help me through this.  As far as pain goes I have a lot of it.  My knee swells to the size of a grapefruit daily.  And my hip on my good leg has started to dislocate due to all the extra stress and strain I put on it. This was the second doctor to operate on me  for the same issue.  I don't think workers comp would allow me to see another doctor without me sending a law suit their way.

All I can offer is to get the meanest fucking lawyer you can find. One with a proven track record of winning WC cases for their clients. They don't come cheap, but it's the rest of your life we're talking about here, and hopefully he/she can get you enough to cover their fees.

My grandad finally got one of his knees replaced. He loves it! (granted it's a serious surgery and requires therapy to get it into shape once it's put in)

Sorry to hear that bro......but yea I agree get a lawyer....... but also do some research........ they all do it by the numbers...... check and see what the pay out is before you take any offer......they will try and take you and all a lawyer cares about is for the case to be settled and for them to be paid.......in the mean time count your blessings cuz it can always be worst then what it is now.

yea lawyer up twinkie

find best in WC and find a good doctor that will replace your knee

for WC only interest is money not your well being.

this is what hate of medical field, doctors looking at repeat business to fatten their wallet while you suffer

so take the bull by the horns an not be sheep to doctors.

I am going through the same thing with WC right now but you have the right to ask for a list of 4 doctors and legally they have to give you that and you can choose which one you want to see off that list. If you already have a lawyer have them ask for it because the WC people wouldnt talk to me anymore after I hired my lawyer. I wish you the best
