Hemps Posted July 11, 2013 Member ID: 1482 Group: *** Clan Members Followers: 37 Topic Count: 120 Topics Per Day: 0.02 Content Count: 2018 Content Per Day: 0.40 Reputation: 1440 Achievement Points: 15303 Solved Content: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 06/05/10 Status: Offline Last Seen: March 15 Birthday: 07/13/1967 Device: Windows Share Posted July 11, 2013 i never thought making jerky would be so easy and yummy! my brother picked up a food dehydrator/jerky maker and started making beef jerky in it and wow! it work great! and for what it cost to buy beef jerky at store, you cant beat the price. 3-4lbs meat. eye round roast 1- cup soy sauce 1- cup worcestershire sauce 1 -4oz bottle liquid smoke (mesquite flavor) 1-tsp onion powder 1-tsp garlic powder 1-tsp crushed red pepper 1/2-tsp course ground black pepper 1/2 tsp ground cayenne red pepper 1st you start out with the meat sliced to about 1/4 inch thick and then mix up all the ingredients in measuring cup. then pour into bag and add meat and mix it around some. then put in fridge for at least 8 hours. after the 8 hours then remove and lay out on paper towels and also towel off top side and then shake some course ground black pepper on one side and place on jerky maker. leave in jerky maker for 8 hours( the temp gets to about 160F ) and then enjoy great tasting beef jerky for a great price. wanting to try some deer and buffalo but haven't got around to finding some. but have done some salmon for niece and she loved it, same ingredients but only 4 hours in jerky maker. deerejon, Blackbart, Gatorgirl and 3 others 6 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options... You don't need much heat and just keep the smoke heavy for 2-4 hours. You can finish it off in your oven if you need to on low heat around 125 degrees and it turns out great.
