You didn't have to be born in 1962 to remember this Frenchi, this series ran until 1967 i'm sure even French TV  showed re-runs, you can watch it now through the link i posted, try it and see one of TV's greatest shows.

Oh yeah Rat Patrol another great series

The show was inspired by and loosely modelled on the New Zealand/British/Rhodesian Long Range Desert Group, which used modified trucks armed with machine guns as their transport through the treacherous desert terrain, and Popski's Private Army. The title of the program refers to the nicknames given to some of the British Commonwealth forces in the North African campaign (Rats of Tobruk or Desert Rats).

Consequently, at the time of the original telecast many British viewers

took offense at the dominance of American characters on the program,

the result being that the show was pulled from the BBC.

Yep, watched them as a kid. Good army shows. And I recall the accident that killed Vic Morrow years later. WW2 was the war of all wars - so many stories of heroics and honor (as well as tragedy). Wars have been not as "glorious" since then.

Oh ya! And this is why I am stuck on COD2 and COD5! I love the WW2 era gameplay, weapons, maps, etc. Additionally, my dad grew up in Hungary and would have been 5-10 years old during the war (he saw men cut in half by gun fire - imagine that as an 8 year old! After the war, they played soccer with the Nazi skulls - morbid, eh? He had nightmares for years after coming to the US). They, of course were easily taken by Germany, since they had no army or economy following WW1, when the Austrian/Hungarian empire was split up. A lot of history there! My Sig is the flag adopted following the war, as Hungary was again war torn and then, of course, easily taken over by Russia during the cold war.

Finally found these on ebay @ a decent price. All 96 issues. Arrived a while ago, and my wife packed them away for Christmas. Only been 40 years or so since they came out, but never could collect them all.

How about movies SOB? The Hill, with Sean Connery, Ian Bannen, and Harry Andrews was (is) one of my favorites. Doesn't get any better than stiff-lipped Brits screaming at each other two inches away.

Yeah the Hill is a great movie m8, if you are interested in watching other Brit War Movies from the 60's and 70's try these...1) The Long and the Short and the Tall    2) Ice Cold in Alex   3)Sea of Sand   4) Play Dirty   5) Too Late the Hero, Actually too Late the Hero was directed by American Director Robert Altman i think and also stars Cliff Robertson but the rest of the cast are British ........no stiff upper lip in any of these movies m8 just normal Brits screaming at each other lol, great movies and gives a different take on many of the movies featuring the USA.

LOL, luv Play Dirty. Nigel Davenport played the perfect (anti) hero. "You've just bought yourself an officer". Another movie that made me want a jeep. Have to check out the others, hard to come by in the states.

I actually own the entire series on DVD lol, I used to watch it with my grandfather, this shows bring back a lot of good memories, my grandfather would talk about when he fought during the second world war, and from then on I have a great appreciation for people who server in their nations armed forces. If any one likes old bacl and white movies dealing with the second world war, this is a must see, a true classic

See if you can download them from somewhere, if you do that sort of thing that is lol, actually you might be able to watch them through youtube..not perfect but better then nothing if it's the only way you can see them, we actually had The Long and the Short and the Tall as a class reader at school when i was 13 lol we all wanted to read from it because there was swear words in it, only chance we had to swear at a very strict Roman Catholic School.

This is a great scene from "Ice Cold in Alex" you should enjoy it, especially when your name is TheLastColdBeer lol, Carlsberg actually made this scene into a TV  advert a few years ago, had to just post the link we have lost the youtube link it seems? Also a clip from the movie "Sea of Sand" which is about the real "Long Range Desert Groups"...enjoy

LOL, ty SOB, gonna search for some torrents. Richard Attenborough is another favorite actor of mine. When Lori & I were in London, we stopped into a pub in Chelsea. Bunch of middle aged guys came in all excited after being at an auction. We were complete strangers, but they bubbled over onto our table talking about the models & toys they purchased. We were old chums the minute I recognized a packaged Matchbox Bedford lorry rigged up as LRDG. Can't mistake the Lewis guns mounted in tandem.
