Morning idiots,

I am purchasing a new laptop soon, I have narrowed it down to two, the specs are pretty much the same in the way of hdd, ram, etc.  But for playing light games (cod 2, 4, war thunder and wold of tanks)  I would like some opinions on which processor to get.

1-intel i3 2348 @2.3 ghz (2 cores)

2-Amd a4-5000 @1.5 (4 cores)

what in your opinion would be the best to purchase?

thanks

Like stated above, you get more bang for your buck from a desktop. The laptops you are looking at have older processors in them, the i3 has a second generation chip, while the amd5000 also is old. What price range you looking?

Its Kind of hard to carry a desktop onto a plane twice a month.  I am looking around 400 ish for a price range.  Dont really need anything fancy working in the bush I would rather loose or have a laptop damaged at  $ 400 instead of thousands..

Or even a laptop that would be somewhat decent.

Cheers.

In that case i would recommend a high end android tablet with bluetooth keyboard. It's way more portable and you can just remote to your desktop when you need something your to tablet can't do. Also much better battery life.

I did that last semester with the samsung note 10.1 and it's been amazing. I havent booted up my laptop since.

Laptops are fine for gaming. I play COD2 every day of my life in my recliner chair with my feet up, and my laptop in my lap.  No sore back and ass from sitting in a regular chair. Granted the screen sometimes isn't as big as I would like but I prefer a laptop for gaming and doing just about everything else.

Sounds like a reasonable strategy...

Devilsbed,

Being a road warrior too I take my lappy with me to game when on the road. Since I am hopelessly married and don't drink staying out of bars is what happens and gaming in the hotel seems to be my only entertainment when not at home. Now, I have gamed on laptops for over 6 years and have some experience with it. I would get a used laptop with i7. I don't know how tech savy you are but the Asus g73 Jh would be a nice lappy with a 17inch screen that you can game with and not worry about it too much. Of course you are talking about ebay here most likely. Anyway I highly recommend going to a website called notebookreview.com and go to their forums and they have an Asus gaming forum there. You can read up all you like. The Jh is an older monster with an ati card and will still run a lot of the newer titles. I am currently playing Bioshock infinite on mine without issue. The only thing about the Jw is that will take a bit of work to get it run properly.  A repaste job is mandatory on the cpu and gpu and a custom vbios it also mandatory so you can run the ATI stock drivers instead of Asus's pathetic ones. The mouse pads on the jh's suck as well, but you're gonna use a mouse anyway. For the bux I doubt you can beat it. If you don't want to fool with that stuff look for the Asus g74 although they might still top the 400 range. If you need more info let me know.

Oh and if you don't want to fool with the ATI card get a G73 Jw or sw, they will cost a bit more and will have the Nvidia card although you will get a higher frame rate with the ATI card after all the work. I get about 75 fps on cod5 with all the goodies turned up.

Ive been looking at refurbished laptops, the acer with the AMD A6-4400 is a refurbished one,  the other i3 is new from a big box store. I am not in too big of a rush as I am in the middle of no where down a logging road, using a satellite internet connection.   And not going to be home for another month.
