I'm not a complete moron, but after installing and reinstalling game , patches, punkbuster and checking direct X I get black screen and game won't start.

Running Win 7 64 bit, everything else works fine! Frustrated as all hell ! What am I doing wrong?

Thanks DeeJay but this is a bonafide disc that I purchased and not a Steam version.

I'll probably try reinstalling the whole thing tomorrow. Even though all the patches seemed to install without any probs,

I will try to run the game after each patch to see if any of the patches are a problem. I assume that I will have to run a cleaner to ensure that no remnanats of

the original install remain on my system. Thanks again.

I thought there was an all-inclusive patch pack available via Downloader.  Is this what you are applying after

installing the game?

I don't have the 64-bit Windows 7 myself so advice I could offer is, perhaps, limited.

It is worth persevering with, George, as I am sure you'd enjoy chucking satchels about!

Open your Windows Explorer and jump to your CoD5 directory:
navigate to -> main -> video. There you will find a file "Treyarch[.load]" or [.bik], not sure. There is only one file with this name
Rename it to "Treyarch.bak" (preferred solution)

This file is the intro video, renaming it should solve your issue.

you can also try renaming the video folder to video1 or "fck_treyarch". If you do this, it may be possible that you will have to run
the game in safe mode. I'd prefer the 1st method

Labob recently I had to go online to find on of the patches that was missing from the down loader! GW the patches must bne installed all one at a time and in order before they get you where you can play! Your ultimate goal is to have version 1.7

I almost had it going; but now I'm getting binkw32.dll missing. BIG WTF! I'm usually pretty good about sorting this "crap" out. I may dedicate a little more time, but then my copy of COD 5 becomes a coaster, Thanks, gents.
