dawgy Posted April 5, 2014 Member ID: 179 Group: *** Clan Members Followers: 27 Topic Count: 96 Topics Per Day: 0.02 Content Count: 1054 Content Per Day: 0.20 Reputation: 367 Achievement Points: 6817 Solved Content: 0 Days Won: 1 Joined: 09/02/09 Status: Offline Last Seen: Wednesday at 01:28 AM Birthday: 12/07/1981 Device: iPhone Share Posted April 5, 2014 well guys as i have been in this clan for five years now and started playing my damn computer just because of this game... i came onto the server and shit was poppin!! always hard to get into i would hit refresh over and over and over just to wait longer for a spot on the server... eventually i got pretty good at the game and friends with alot of the xi members and awhile longer i got myself some tags... i loved playing this game for years and years.. but it seams nobody is ever on our servers anymore...and the people that do are regulars so im just trying to figure out why? ive got a couple thoughts on why for the most part... one the game is really old... second i think alot of people get banned from our cod2 servers its seams like when i was a admin for 2 yrs and only banned maybe three people for hacking...3 i thinke we need smaller map packs i just dowloaded 4 70mb files just to play and i didnt even have to download the mod..... 4 i think we have to many custom maps we should try to keep them to a minimum.... 5 lets go back to normal i shoot you before you shoot me no gunship or any of that shit... i may be outta place with this but i dont wanna see my server die.. Most evenings seem to be ok but days are dead. It is an old game but there is still a loyal following and a number of other COD2 servers are running at capacity, so we need to look at what we're doing and figure out why people aren't playing our servers as much as theirs. As I type this, there are almost 900 active COD2 servers and only 45 of them have 2 or more players. Our server at this moment has 4 people on it, and there are 40 servers more active than ours with between 6 and 62 players. What are we doing wrong and what are they doing right? Lately when there has been nobody on our servers I've gone to the master list and tried to play on some other servers. Most of them I can't stand because of the mods, but one in particular has some great maps and mods that are very similar to ours and there are always 20+ players on 24/7. They have a large rotation and mix up the game types, so one map will be TDM, the next CTF, then CTFB, and so on. They also use the gunship, helicopter and sentry gun, but unlike ours the cost is much higher and buying one of them can clean you out. Very few of their maps are straight DM and the people who use that server seem to like it that way. The thing I don't like about their server is that nobody talks at all, so there is no chat during TDM and that makes the games more challenging. They also stay on top of hackers and boot them almost immediately. Yes we've had a lot of bans in the last year, but so have all of the clans. For whatever reason the number of hackers has increased lately and everybody is seeing more of them. I like what we have on our servers but the minimal rotation with only a few players at any given time is getting old, and obviously others feel the same way because traffic is low. We need to figure out some way to increase traffic or I'm afraid we won't be around much longer. We had a mix of big, medium and small maps, as well as shooties and snipers. For a while there was a safe guard in it to prevent the same map being the rotation and getting "overused" by a few. Now when I play its 2,3, 4 players in these huge maps, which is a bit discouraging. I agree with much of what dawgy and LOM stated in their posts. There seems to be a lack of Mayhem here. I play other servers that have great participation with lots of Mayhem the we no longer have. Part of what makes it so boring is trying to find 3 or 4 opponents on a huge map. Put wawa and world cup back in the rotation on both servers, and consider finding a few more small ones. There is one that's on another clan's server called box fight they use for CTF, but it's a great map and would be a really good addition to both of our servers. Something can be an excellent game... in this case arguably much better than BF4... but often people will only play the newer one simply for that reason. Its newer.
