I was wondering if there were any members that surf fish in Southern California. I love fishing the surf and I am always looking for suggestions on fishing spots.

As a Landshark, I take offense to the idea that you would try and hook one of my fellow aquatic creatures. I mean, what gives? Go to the store and buy some chicken and eat that. Have a nice, greasy burger and fatten up like the rest of America! Then take a nice midnight swim off the California coast, and I will introduce myself to you.

P.S. Prior to your midnight swim, please do not eat Jalapenos on your burger, they upset my stomach.

LA is south of Ft Bragg by about 600 miles.

I've never surf fished down there but I've taken quite a few weekend excursions out of Long Beach marina scuba diving and fishing off of The Channel Islands and Mexico.

Dear Mr. Shark. I can understand your anger with me, especially since I have slain so many of your family members.

Florida has great surf fishing, I know this however I am 4000 plus miles away. Have you ever seen the River Monsters show they have on animal planet?  In one episode the guy is in Florida,  fishing a river where it meets the ocean and he hooks a monster 6 ft. grouper. It was impressive

I tried surf fishing off Bolsa Chica a few times, but got fed up with the damn surfers. So I quit fishing, and joined the surfers :)

Million more where they came from :) All it takes is one of us to get you.

P.S. We prefer a coconut based tanning oil, lightly salted.

Here is some of what we get in northern California.

This is a barely legal Ling Cod. They have to be at least 21 inches to keep and get well over 40 pounds. The meat has a bluish color to it but cooks out white, and they have some big-assed teeth. It's a lot of fun spear fishing for them and getting dragged around.

Grab you some shrimp or better yet a 1/2 scoop of live anchovies from Dana Point and fish off the jetty at Dana Point.

I used to go out on 1/2 day 3/4 day and all day boats out of Dana and did good. Sometimes I would fish the bays in my float tube and caught a bunch of spotted bay bass. If you can swing this you wont be disapointed Bay Bass fight hard and taste good just throw light jigs (chartruse plastic) around the expensive boats in the bays on an incoming tide and hold on!

Be aware that you could hook a monster Halibut and get towed around . . . Har!

OMG!

I have ripped a few (3) waves here (much smaller) and this is totally insane!

The wave breaks right on the sand! I have seen a few guys get taken away on a back board.

I can't imagine why anyone would risk a broken neck when you can go to a regular beach and safely "get all tubular . .   . Dude"!
