Hi there,

i was wondering if anyone here got me a link too a few good antispyware programs and virusscanner.

I finally got my new system and downloaded the free AVG scanner but for some reason i get shitloads of commercials and adds on every page i visit on the internet.

New pages opening etc.

So i was hoping if anyone here can guide me too a good site/link/program to sort it and make sure my new pc is protected.

preferably not 30 day trial version that you have to delete and reinstall etc since i'm no wizzard when it comes to those things :)

I havent used AVG for years and dont know if that is why you are getting all the popups.

Get Avast for AV. Free but you need to register each year.

Mallwarebytes Anti-mallware

and

Spybot Search and Destroy

for mallware and similar things.

I broke down and started using that. Amazing how just going to a site with no Java installed and still pick up shit.

Most AV do nothing for you except slow your system. It needs to be checked with a program like malwarebytes. I got the pro so it scans real time. Has not slowed anything down. Catches lots of things.. you can have popups to show was it being blocked.

1 license cover 3 computer for $25. Now I feel save surfing for gay midget porn again.

I'm just really careful and do a monthly MalwareBytes scan. I've had no problems. I got some adware last year but nothing since then thankfully.

Yes some kind of real-time protection is advisable to catch malware from websites before they get a chance to get into your system. If you use Firefox (which is recommended), get script blockers such as 'noscript' and adblock+.  Also Ghostery.

would recommend adblock edge for firefox, better than than adblock+

i had noscript, great stuff, but its a pain to allow every thing u want and all, u dont really need this

if u need antivirus and firewall, go for eset smart security, u got to pay for it, but its excellent, its like 40$ or something.

then like others said, malwarebytes and spybot search and destroy 1.6 (not the newer version)

and if u doint click any bs mail or links u should be ok lol

I haven't had any viruses Since I Reinstalled Windows 2 years ago.Stay the hell away from Facebook,Don't download music or Pictures off the Web and dont watch p0rn on your Gaming PC.All I have is Adblock + and I occasionally run Trend Micro House Call if I think something may of installed it's self.

If I do get a Bad virus that will more than likely diminish the performance of my PC even after getting rid of the bugger,It only takes an Hour to completely restore everything I have.

I have a spare 120gig hard drive Loaded with windows and most of my games that I play.Doesn't take very long to Clone a Hard Drive.Every couple of months when I Blow the Dust out of my PC out I plug the 120 gig in and back up everything After making sure that I have no Viruses or Spyware.

Viruses and Spyware are Very easy to detect if you Know what Processes are for what and how they should act.

The advice in here just make me  sometimes.

For Win7 - Microsoft Security Essentials

For Win8 - It's built in; just make sure it's on (which it is by default.)

And yes - stay away from facebook, by all means.  Evil empire.  LOL

Use ABP (Ad Blocker Plus) in Firefox and Chrome if you're worried about ad networks.  And you should be.

Don't UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE use Internet Explorer!  One exception - use it to download either Firefox or Chrome.  That is the extent of its value.

I use a combination. Avg- antivirus, MBAM/ spywear search and destroy, and ad blocker plus with firefox to block all ads and pop ups. Adblocke plus works great on pandora to not have commercials playing every other song.

HELL NO.Not EVER again.

SuperAntiSpyware was a Fake AV just 5 years ago that downloaded Dozens and Dozens of Infected toolbars and and Browser Hyjackers and all sorts of NASTY shit.

I don't give a Flying fuck if they went legit or not that shit costed me personally Many hours of suffering and time to back up what little it did not infect and reinstall everything.

Malwarebytes is very good and Adblock+ popup blocker for Firefox is all you need.

Use Malwarebytes Game Mode feature while your gaming.AV is still active but does not actively scan incoming data.So it won't interrupt your gaming and PunkBuster won't bitch about it.
