Story behind your Gaming Nickname

Recommended Posts

A few weeks back in The Breakfast Club server  I heard some guys talking about the reason/story behind why they picked the nickname they use....was really interesting. I don't know if this has ever been a topic here before but thought it would be cool to hear your story........

My story: years back we threw a weekend party for our Quake Clan in Huntington Beach, Ca. (omg!, my liver is still swollen from that)...the first night we ended up at a local bar and witnessed some fool pull a straight razor on his girlfriend and threaten to cut her for being out without his permission...we all yelled at him to chill and put it away but he just kept swinging it around in the air yelling he was 'gonna cut some one'...I was probably 6' away from him and during one of his swings which felt really close to me I reached out in defense and luckily caught his arm and the razor flew out of his hand( what a dumbass move, but you know the Jack Daniels 10' tall thing) ....anyways , my buds starting calling me 'razor'

When my family first moved to south texas in 1990 we bought an old house that had been sitting in the middle of farmland for 15 years. it had a rat infestation.

My dad had to kill all the rats and he goes "I'm Ratman, and This is my son Mouseboy"... Mouseboy is more common so now i use Mouselad.

Well the "tame" version is that I have been collecting all things penguin for about 30 years now (yes even before they were WAY popular lol), and when I first began playing COD4 I used the SAW and several people referred to me as WILD with that gun, so thus - WildPenguin.......

There was with us in our city in the army a kind of Miss Contest whose name was Panzergirl 2010 My sister also took part in it and finished 3rd. When I played COD 5 for the first time and then often called me my sister always Panzergirl. And so my name was born. Panzergirl smilie_girl_057.gif

When we use to do this I was named Bigmeandean. Then a miracle happened and I became a papa to my granddaughter who is the apple of my eye. Bigmeandean was a nickname I picked up in high school I was a junior in a PE class and when we played tackle football I would turn and run headlong into the group of underclassmen and they would scatter like a covey of quail. lol Hince Bigmeandean! lol Now my baby has turned me to a soft teddy bear. lol

In the old days of Rickchat (chatroom used for fans of Rick Springfield), everyone chose names relating to songs.  Most chose song titles.  I chose Burning Bright because it was a term used in a few songs, but most notably the one below.  (This brought a lot of laughs.)  Bama took me to my first concert in 25 years and afterward looked at me with a raised eyebrow and said "Now I know where you got your name from."

Later, the name evolved to mean more than that to me and that can be found in my signature.  Matthew 5:16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The name will evolve further this November.  I'm so used to being called BB.  It turns out that BeBe is a term for grandmother.  Our new grandson will call me BeBe.

Mine is a bit stupid now. Years ago when I first signed up on xbox live I had to come up with a gamertag and I couldnt think of anything good, so I just entered my second name which is Barron. It came up that the name was already taken. So I just randomly put 2000 at the end of it so it became barron2000. Anyway I began to play alot of online games on xbox live and I would often get abuse (as you do) from people going mad from me killing them in game constantely. They would go and call me a 12 year old and so on just due to my gamertag having 2000 at the end of it. I never would of thought that I would have been getting abuse from people thinking that I was born in the year 2000 haha

Anyway when I moved onto PC a few years ago I just decided that I would not continue with the name barron2000 so I just named the new one barron3000

I mighta done this somewhere before in another thread, but heho.

I picked JOHN TAMS who is an actor/folk artist from my part of Lancashire.

As an actor he played Dan the marksman ex poacher who never missed,in the TV series "Sharpe" with Sean Bean, an action drama set

during the Napoleonic Wars of the early 1800's.

Good Series.

Well, I was out on a yacht in the Yellow Sea fishing for marlin and hooked a monster. I had chili for breakfast and after three hours trying to land the beast I had to take a wicked crap, but I just couldn't let the fish go. So I crapped my drawyers, which is how I got the name Mr. Poopy Pants.

Oh. Wait a minute. That's not my gaming name.

    Never mind.

Back in the Quake days, I used the name Brutal Beegle. Looking at my avatar you can guess that I own beagles. Shortened it to Brutal while still playing Freeze Quake. I'm not very brutal so I changed it to simply Burt. It works well in teamspeak. Everyone seems to be able to pronouce it.
