This is a crop from a hand-held shot taken with an image-stabilized zoom lens at 250mm, sharpened and contrast enhanced in PhotoShop. It's a 747 at 34-36,000 feet. Based on what I could make out of the logo, tail markings, and a ton of research from there, it's a cargo flight owned by CargoLux, the biggest cargo carrier in Europe based in Luxembourg. http://www.cargolux.com/. I'm totally fascinated by aircraft and take every opportunity to catch a shot of a passing flight. SW Ontario, Canada, is one of the busiest air corridors in North America. At any given time (given light and atmospheric conditions conducive to contrails), I can count up to a dozen aircraft in view at most times.

I've attached the full file as well as it's sharper and shows more detail.

A regional first-generation Dash-8 turboprop at 20,000 feet, flown by Air Canada Jazz, a partner airline to Air Canada. Also hand-held at 250mm.

Astronomy photography can get very expensive and very quickly. I have a nikon d3000 which is the entry level dslr but a handy piece of kit. My next purchase will be a lens, hopefully a VR 55-300. Can't post any pics on my phone so will just have to link to Dropbox or something. ..

Some of these were just my old camera phones, but I think they work just as well sometimes.

Very nice shots! Yeah, cameras on phones are getting better and better. My LG G3 has a 13mp camera, and I can choose focus points on the touch screen, plus many other features that used to be only on high-end cameras.

My town is on the approach for San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose airports, so needless to say there is always some air traffic going overhead. We're also not far from a major air force base and see a lot of big transports and bombers, and I always find myself looking up to figure out what they are.  We've seen Airforce One fly over us a number of times over the years.

A really neat web site I found last year takes the guessing out of it. You can open up the following web page and see exactly what commercial aircraft are flying over you in real time. It gives the airline name, type of plane and flight plan, as well as altitude. Some flights have web cams in their cockpits and you can even tap into those.  This web site covers the globe so anybody can use it.

Here's a couple I took while camping with some friends during Thanksgiving weekend.  Up nice and early to catch the fog over the water.

Taken with my Canon T5i, 18-55mm image stabilzed zoom lens.

Take at dusk with my LG G3 smartphone. Its low-light capability is impressive. To my eyes it was much darker than this. The foreground is lit with a streetlight, and a train is coming in the distance. The full-size image is also attached.

Hi Sweatnbullets,

I haven't gotten into astrophotography yet, though it's high on my list of things to learn. That's why I got the telescope adapter for the camera and the mount that the telescope is sitting on. Hopefully by the time Spring comes around I can get into it. winters are too damn cloudy here to have a chance to take a deep dive. I have friends that are award-winning night-sky photographers. Great people to learn from.

Thanks for the link!  When we lived in Nova Scotia, we'd often see USAF transports being refueled mid-air as they were entering North America. Pretty cool thing to watch in binoculars.

These shots were taken with my old point and click mounted to my telescope.  They're not the clearest but like Astonomer, I hope to get some better pics with my T5i mounted on a good night.

A few more I took from different occasions. Some are at the Sea Life Centre, some are of Leeds West Indian Carnival, there are a couple of three gulls having a dogfight for an icecream cone in Whitby and a few randoms.
