I have a couple miniature tripods that literally fit in my coat pocket. You attach the camera and put it on a table or even the ground for a nice still shot. I know what you're thinking... SONY?!?! I chose this camera for it's video, not for photography. I'm not really a stills guy, I do mostly film journals. I film random bits throughout the year and make a recap video that I can send to family / watch when I reach your age. Only after getting the camera (it's my first DSLR) have I really started being interested in stills. I figure I have the hardware, why not learn some photography? This camera really isn't meant for it though; this makes it difficult. - 16-50mm lens - no optical view finder - manual focus is by wire (not physical linkage) - However, the video quality is unparalleled in it's price range.
