Replacement of Xfire

We will need to schedule a senior meeting to discuss it, Steam looks to have the greater amount of players that already have and use it. Evolve looks to be the closest feature replacement to Xfire however is the minority when it comes to who already has it and wants it - similar to Raptr. 

 

In the end we want the replacement to cause as little hassle as possible so going with an already widely accepted program would be beneficial. It does seem clear that people would like Teamspeak as a replacement and it was a failing of mine to include it as an option as it does not meet the requirements. However it does show that maybe we should be putting more of an emphasis on Teamspeak.

 

Either way we will hopefully discuss it soon.

One note on Steam, you can not add friends unless you make at least a $5 purchase.  Are we going to require people to use this and make them spend money they otherwise would not spend?

I have had games gifted to me but never actually bought anything from them. My friends list seems to work. But I only have a couple people on it. Maybe I am not that friendly.

In what way does it not meet requirements?  I went back to the OP and all I really took from it is that we need a replacement for xfire that does text chat with pretty much all other aspects as nice-to-have, but not required.  What did I miss?

Yeah, that was my stance on it, too, until I realized a text chat could be initiated by right-clicking on someone and choosing to open a text chat.  But too many people think "poking" is the way to get someone's attention in TS, and that strands a greater chance of just pissing them off when they get bounced out of a game to the desktop because of it. 

 

Evolve looks pretty good.  Steam's been pretty good, too - the whole love/hate debate thing aside.

Voice chat I use ts. For messaging and voice I use steam. Ts easy and fast. Steam has a good message system. I use both.

I have it and I think it could be a good replacement for xfire but till we get more people using it not sure. My user name is Hunter_ADM I may have to see if I can change it to have XI in but I think I may have to open a new account.

i have evolve, too, its working pretty good even ingame and replaces xfire for me.

 

pvt death has created a XI group there, u can find 6 of us idiots there atm.

Fuck Evolve They want $$$ $4.99 a month or $49.99 for 1 year or you will be stuck in server que trying to connect.

 

This is what popped up when I got stuck in que the other day.It pops up the "Optional Upgrade" tab and this is what you get if you click on it.

 

 

 

 

 

I'm not giving them Money and I'm not going to sit in a server Que for over an hour just to have that fucking Upgrade thing pop up again.

i got Evolve to try it out. but i never got no window pop up like that when i downloaded it.

I have got it , It comes up when the server gets busy , Like I said a few times Evolve isn't bad , But the pay thing won't fly  with me , And you can't change your username plus it's just to dam big compared to the others, Now from what I here they working on a completely new new one, which looks good..

I know  we talked about Steam.. but this was cool. I put the Battlelog App on my phone and Bubbles sent me a message and I get notifed on my phone if not in Steam. That is pretty cool.
