Going to go get my CCW  and need some input from CCW gun owners.  I own several pistols now, but they are not very concealable.  So any CCW owners, share with me the make and model number of what you carry and why you like it.  That way I can start researching them and finally do a hands on inspection/range shoot at a gun store.  Thanks

Well, I have a Glock 19c that I have and use for my CCW gun...  I love it.  It's not HUGE nor is it a tiny gun.  It will get the job done if it needs to

I have a WWII Walther PPK that my uncle took from a surrendering German officer. I never felt the need to carry, but if I did these things are the perfect size. Mine is a .32 so i would get something in a slightly larger caliber.

That's for the input.  Will start researching them. My daughter is going to take the class also.  She joined the National Guard and just got back from boot/school.   She has been gone for 8 months.  From what I have read, she will just have to do the 2 hour range part of the class, since she is considered active military.  At least that's how it is in Ohio.   I may be wrong, but the instructors will know.  Thanks again for the replies and keep them coming.

No carry permit, but a 1911 .45 fits nicely inside  the shoulder holster or inside belt holster. Flat, unnoticeable, and you won't lack for power. If you're going to carry a firearm, make it one that doesn't just wound. Lawsuits are best settled between you, and the deadbeat's heirs.

The weapon you carry also depends on the area you live in.

In most of Ohio you could get by with this.

Except in Cleveland (where I was born) you would need this.

There are so many different good quality guns out there it makes choosing hard but choosing a caliber is a lot easier.

Things to consider, A 9mm will do the same job as a .45  . . . .if not your either a bad aim or your target is king kong and your in deep shit. Also a 9mm will hold as many as 15 rds and still be concealable.

I do prefer the .45 as it gets the point across but the size of the gun can be more than most people like to carry

Packing a .22 caliber is not worth the trouble when you can carry a 9mm that takes up the same amount of space and has a better "greeting" when it arrives.

9mm ammo is relatively inexpensive and plentiful.

.380 is a good round also and the size of the gun is relatively small and has a large magazine.

What ever you choose we will expect to see pics posted. :rtfm:

Bottom line is Be Safe .. .Be Responsible  . . Be familiar with your firearm . . . . . . Always

I was born in Shaker Heights and moved away at a very young age, but my dad grew up dirt poor on the east side, Euclid Ave. It's a war zone now.

I'd love to hear from those that have experience using them, what do you think is the best option after your action?

Thanks again for the input.  Been researching a few.   Leaning towards a DAO mechanism (for safety issues), but a DA/SA is not out of the running either.  Will keep you all posted as to what I get and why.

Ended up buying a Ruger SR9C  .   Came down to that model and a S&W M&P Shield.  The S&W was a tad narrower, but the magazine capacity was only 8 rounds (single stack), compared to the Rugers 17 round (double stack).  Both received great video and web reviews.  But the added rounds (comes with a 10 round and 17 round magazine) and the Rugers added safety features made it easy to decide on it even though it was $100 more.  Thanks again for all the input.

The Ruger is great for carry but I use the Shield for day to day.  I need to have the Apex trigger work done at some point.  Recently I've been carrying my HK 45c.  A bit big for everyday carry but just such a great gun.  In CA i am limited to 10 round mags anyway so the double stacks don't really help me.  You picked a good one.  Good luck and practice often.

Hope to head out this weekend and do some shooting with it.  One good thing about growing up and living in farm country is that we have plenty of places to go shooting.  Both public and private.

We have a community shooting range here it sits down in a coolie (small canyon /creek channel) and anyone can use it and shoot anything you can carry in    :2guns:  . .I love it . . . .   whenever I feel like it I just grab the UZI or the AR15 and light some stuff up.

Seriously  . . . . . be safe! . .  .but not good        :smoke:
