Last evening I was online with a few other idiots when my ip decided to shut all service down in my area to do some comprehensive work on the system. It knocked me off and I was left wondering what to do. I watched some stuff I had downloaded and went to bed. This morning when I woke up I still couldn't get on line. Yet my son was online as well as we connected a Samsung pad and it worked rather well. I called Comcast and did the whole realm of test they have you do along with switching lines with me son all to no avail. Then my son suggested I update my bios and my ether net drivers. This worked and got me online, but now it keeps closing and reconnecting all at inconvenient times. I have a good idea that I need to update some more things and have done this in the past but my memory is so bad I cannot remember what they are. :( Would someone be so kind as to male a list of things I need to update to correct this? Also while connecting it keeps throwing this message on the screen. I may have to uninstall yahoo chat and then reinstall but if so the so be it>

everything you need should be on the mobo manufacturers website. If you are still having issues after that, consider installing a new network adapter in an empty slot (theyre cheap) You mobo ethernet port may be having issues.

Dean, your mother board should have come with a disk that has all the drivers needed. From there you can go to the mfg website and download any updated drivers.

I am thinking now I have a bad virus cause I can't even bring up Malwarebytes to scan this thing! I had a Cross-rider before and I think it is still in there. Thought I had gotten rid of it but something is wrong. I did a speed test and registered the max of the meter. Yet when I surf it won't hardly move! I am going to research this damned virus more!

@Damage_Inc I used that iobit driver program and it updated things I have never updated since I have had this pc. Funny thing is tho the JRT when I ran it deleted about half of the driver tool! ID'd it as malicious. I have had bad experiences with their stuff in the past! Still have a problem with direct ex tho. :(

I am not computer savvy but the suggestion of going to the operating system updates should help.  Also, I have had problems with Windows explorer and I now use Google and can log in OK.

Hope you solve the problem.

Dean run cCleaner. It's always been a great program for me. Cleans everything up nicely. Some hate it and don't trust it but it's never caused me an issue.

for the virus !! format and reinstall the OS this is the only thing that works forget what they tell you don't waste your time. If your using win 7 or above it will load the MB drivers for you. To check your drivers out go start / control panel / device manager. If there is something not working you will see it in the list. To check direct x click start and in the search field type dxdiag them click on the dxdiag.exe and look at the new window it will bring up. After it runs through its test you will see a little box marked next.

I read some where that this is caused by the flash player being blocked until they fix the vulnerability of it. Stay tuned!

My device manager is incapacitated at this time. Another reason I believe I have a virus! But it's only 2 more days till I can install Win 10 anyways so I think I will just wait for now!

If you have a virus issue, installing Win 10 will not help.  Like Labob said, it is sometimes worth the extra work and do a complete wipe and re-install.  Save what you can of personal files and kill the rest.

Try this from Viper antivirus:  http://www.vipreantivirus.com/live/  it is a usb drive scan/cleaning tool that operates outside of the OS, meant for badly infected systems preventing install of an antivirus app.  I use malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware but Viper always finds things the two of those do not when I am cleaning a machine for someone.  Its the first AV product I have paid for after using the trial in well over 10 years It works very well and does not monger the resources.

you really need to run MBAM in Safe Mode with Networking in Chameleon mode. that is the best way to make sure you are clean. If you find that the infection is a persistent problem, reloading the SAME version of Windows is the plan like mentioned before. Backup before, it will wipe everything. And FYI piece of crap Windows 10 is NOT the answer.

Driver booster 2 or 3 is good but dosent get all drivers so go on (cnet down loads) on search type in SlimDrivers ..
