Well I tried to Install Windows 10 which ended up deleting and crashing my entire OS so I went to steam to get their OS and it installed then crashed out and it now just says "press esc for start up menu". Pressing esc does nothing and it just freezes there. Anyone know a way around this? Need this laptop for school. If not then I'll be back in the market for a new gaming laptop....

Stick two fingers up your butt and call me in the morning.    :happy: Well your First issue is Windows 10.  I personally would go the the website of the brand of laptop you have and look up ordering the OEM OS disc for it. It's generaly really inexpensive. P.S. Don't try Win 10 again till 10.1 or better dude. If you already have the disc and don't know how to run a fresh install, send me the Brand and model number of the laptop and I will help. P.S. you are truly an Extreme Idiot dude.  :lol:

Download this if you have a way to and burn to a disk. When you boot it has lots of tools... boot to XP and if that works we have more info.

what possessed you to upgrade an aging laptop to 10?

I mean, I realize the lure/draw of such an amazing shiny OS just makes you want to drop your pants, but you just couldn't resist?  :whistle: { heavy sarcasm }

Yes yes, I know I'd take a beating over having a laptop and upgrading it to win 10 lol. But if I can't even access the bios menu or any of that...then what can I do? I can always order a new HDD for $50 but that's last resort stuff.

The problem is not Windows 10, the root cause is between the chair and the keyboard.

Use a bootable CD/USB to install a new OS. You should be able to access the BIOS. Unless you fucked up your motherboard, highly doubt. Make sure you're pressing the right key at the right time to get in to setup, generally F2. Just spam it.

You on the other hand prefer very hard Clydesdale...                        with mayonnaise.

Yep... I don't see how people don't get this... when it's free, you are the product. Microsoft is not giving this shit out because it's generous lol.

You can't escape unless you choose to stop using any form of modern technology. Everything is tracked everywhere. Embrace it and with whatever precaution you can think of. I turned off all the "fancy" features in Windows. Apart from that, I am very happy. Stable OS, works great, what's not to like.

Okay cause right now I'm on Steam OS so if I burn the boot set up of that to a disk it should automatically read and repair? Even if I'm stuck on that "press esc for start up menu" black screen?

....If I would be able to access the bios menu I would be able to run off my boot USB. This is what I'm trying to get at here. I am pressing the right key as it says "press esc to access set up menu". Motherboard shouldn't get dickered from changing OS cleanly should it?
