so im finally going to pull the trigger(hehe) and buy a gun,  been looking at a bunch of reviews and some info from a couple friends, but want to see what any of you idiots think!

just going to be target shooting with friends and i don't want to spend a ton of money, no more then 200-400 dollars, and it will be a 22lr pistol. been really liking the S&W  model 22a no bull. 5.5" barrel  but open for suggestions. i also like the 1911 styles also, but most seem a bit over my budget,  just really looking for a good starter gun.

If you buy a semi auto...don't expect it to perform correctly with the cheapest rounds out there.  Make sure you use only "High Velocity" rounds in it or it will probably jam all the time and annoy the piss out of you.  Revolvers...doesn't matter what rounds you use.  .22's are GREAT fun!!  You can afford to play with a gun of that caliber...I mean really shoot the shit outta it.  Have fun!

I own a Ruger SR-22.

Lots of fun and easy to shoot accurately.

Spin is correct about the ammo you shoot.

Even the SR-22 does not shoot just anything.

when you find the style you want, either semi are revolver. Make sure you find one that fits your hand right and comes up easy to site in. As you learn to shoot it will help from developing bad habits that are hard to over come and reduce your accuracy.

Those are nice pistols, really cheap (price) ammo too for them. I've been wanting a pistol for quite some time now but the damn Canadian laws with owning a pistol are just outrageous. Good luck on finding one that's good for you!

22 caliber pistols or rifles are a great overall gun to own. The ammo is inexpensive so you can afford to go out and shoot it and have fun and a good tool for self defense.

For accuracy a longer barrel is better and you will have more fun when you are hitting what you shoot at.

Take a look at these,

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/browning-buck-mark-camper-semi-automatic-22lr-051482490-023614397663-55-barrel?a=1799438

The browning has a 10 rd magazine and is a very nice gun.

The UZI  is a sweet reproduction of the real thing (9mm) and it holds 20rds

I would have trouble choosing between those 2.

Let us know what you decide and of course post some pics

If you are not looking for a handgun to conceal carry a revolver would be a good choice.  I have a Ruger single six .  It has two cylinders one in .22 long rifle and one in .22 magnum.  It is accurate and fun to shoot, I do use it to squirrel hunt with sometimes.  If you are looking to conceal carry an auto would be the way to go...

I will say that the Mark II & Mark III will shoot just about any ammo out there. I have a Walther P-22 that ive had zero problems with even shooting it through a can.

Also if it is within your budget I'd get a threaded barrel too! :-)

Ruger mk1, mk2, or mk3. Plenty of aftermarket magazines & accesories. Sheer joy to shoot, although they take a little practice to field strip & re-assemble. Been shooting the same mk2 for thirty years, and it still looks new.

Lots of good advice here. At the club I belong to most everyone agrees the Rugar semi auto work great. I have owned 3 different MK2's. I now just own 1. the only reason I sold the others was someone always offered me more money for them than I paid and I did not need 3 lol.

The other excellent gun the club members love is the Browning Buck mart. Both these pistols digest almost any ammo you throw at them. It is amazing how accurate a 22 pistol is.

When i was really into the lots of shooting at the club both these pistols sold for $200-275 second hand.

these are great pistols to start with.

Wow still amazing to think that someone has actually ALLOWED HEMPS to own a real life gun......good job im over the pond so even with his poor shooting he wouldnt be able to hit the UK......

Hemps we wanna see some videos of you actually hitting some targets...(without Hacks) lol........

As im in the UK somewhat stricter gun laws then yourselves I might treat myself to a SPUD GUN or CAP GUN...lol......or if I really wanna push the boat out...A BB gun.....scarey I know...

LOL.....I like the middle one best.....kinda BLING

That is the one I would suggest. My uncle had one.. it is so balanced in your hand. Nothing else like it.
