I feel better and my health has improved. I tried various ways to quit for more than 50 years that I smoked. None worked. Here's how I did it. Starting in the fall of 2014, I stopped habit smoking. That's the cigarette that you don't really crave, but smoke out of habit only - the one you have with your coffee in the morning, the one you smoke after dinner, etc. At the same time, I resolved to not smoke in the car (I never smoked in the house.) After a month or so, I found that I had cut smoking by about 50 percent. I was only smoking when I had a strong craving to do so. Then, I started to smoke only half the cigarette. I would put it out and leave it for the next time I really had to have one. And when I did, I smoked the other half. At this point, I had gone from a pack-a-day habit to two packs a week. After a month or so of that, I started taking only 2 or 3 drags on the cigarette and then butting it, saving it for the next craving.I did this for about four weeks until it was really easy for me to take just a puff on a cigarette, and then put it out. On Jan. 14, 2015, I butted my last smoke, threw away the pack and all the lighters. I haven't had a smoke since. Slowly weaning myself off smoking worked for me. I hope it does for you too. deerejon, TBB, Blackbart and 20 others
 Awards

Got a cancer diagnosis, Multiple Myeloma, an incurable plasma cell cancer. I've never been seriously ill; I've not spent one day in a hospital in my life. I told the wife that if I got out of this, I would quit smoking. I did, and I did. At the same time as the MM was being checked out, something nailed my kidneys, costing me 80 percent permanent loss of kidney function. The doctors were first convinced that I had active cancer but after a bone marrow biopsy the oncologist finally released me. Turns out I have the precursor version of MM where there are cloned plasma cells present but they are not malignant. This rarely advances to full malignancy. And there has been no further deterioration of kidney function. So, I count my blessings and am very thankful for my health - and that I finally got the tobacco monkey off my back. Great job Harry. I will have to find the picture my first cigarette was at the age of 2. My stupid fucking aunt tried to get me sick by giving me one in front of everyone all laughing at me. What the bitch does not realize I was smoking by the age of 5. At the age of 12 it was already a habit. It has been a few years that I quit. Went form cigs.. to ecig to nothing. So glad I am not still smoking. Nasty shit. Smells like shit.. tastes like shit because it is shit. Their is 4 to 5 times the amount of radioactive ingratiates in US cigarettes than any other country. Why is that? It was so easy to put down the Ecig. Nicotine is not near as addictive as the other shit in cigarettes. It was still hard to quit smoking going to an ECig. An alcoholic is always an alcoholic because just one drink and he's back on the sauce but the same is true for smokers. I know that if I take one puff of a cigarette, I'll be back on them.
