Hello Everyone,

I am in the process of building a new gaming pc to use with COD2 and COD5. I only have the case and cooler as of right now but I am compiling a list of components as I go. The case is an Antec Eleven Hundred V2 and the cooler is an Antec Kuhler H2o 950. I will probably go with an Antec modular power supply, an Intel i7/6700, a Gigabyte MB, Samsung SSD drive(s) and whatever the appropriate RAM will be.

My question is, what video cards are folks using these days? I would like to stay within the Nvidia family.

I'm assuming that I will stay with Windows 7 but I'm not opposed to having a Windows 10 drive also.

I appreciate any helpful suggestions.

Thanks, Jack (MrCrowe)

The GTX 970 is definitely the sweet spot for price and performance  between the 960 and 980. I got the factory overclocked version for a few $ more

I agree.  I just dropped in an Asus GTX970 4GB and am very happy with its performance.

Best of luck Crowe! I am still going through building my new gaming rig to. I got the Nvidia 970 as per advice. Have not been able to play on it cuz my MB may need to be replaced. Most of my other components, including liquid cooling, are Corsair,...Thanks for the five year warranty on my entire build Corsair!

Good job Mr. Pain! I didn't know you were into building pc's.

Sorry about the MB situation. I used to avoid MSI in the past but I though they got their shit together. This build may take me a bit longer (too many medical bills lately). I might have to sell a guitar or 2 to get it done. I've always had the best luck with Gigabyte, Antec and Intel. Interesting that you went with the cooling radiator on the top? What processor did you go with?

How efficient and quiet are those corsair water coolers compared to a good air coolers that are 1/2 the price? The corsair case I have has the place right on top designed for them.

I bought the

Corsair Hydro Series High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H60 which has only one fan. I was immediately 10 degrees cooler than when the fan only was connected. Corsair has a 5 year warranty that covers your entire system,...so long as you have all of your original receipts. Very quiet and effective!

Good luck sir

Woops, I got the

Intel Boxed Core I5-6500 FC-LGA14C 3.20.

I mounted the fan and radiator in the top with the fan drawing air down and in because to mount the fan at top back position it was too tough to get the pump over the processor. This layout allows the hoses to relax.

Do you do anything that puts the processor on longer term loads like video editing and compression? One of the reasons I am considering this one is because good air cooling requires one of those huge blocks that look like it will snap the mb in two.

you should consider upgrading to windows 10. i have been on it for a few months or so and haven't had any problems with it so far. all i hear about it is bad things but really i have never seen an issue with it. Just never use windows 8 :)

actually your all wrong along with the logo too

best position is tubes on the up side ,(facing ceiling) this allows pump to bleed proper (let trapped air escape)
