I find both world wars interesting as historic events. But as a game setting I'm still not convinced, even though I liked 1942 a lot but that was years ago and before I got spoiled with modern games. Iron sights only, not including snipers, would certainly separate the men from the boys however. Maybe even the boys from the foul mouthed kiddies. Who knows. Maybe said boys and kiddies that refuse to play without their electronic sight crutches or guided missiles will stay away and adults will be the only real audience. Point the dot/front post at an enemy and shoot, no skill required. But I like to choose what pointy dot I use And I never once saw an adult online in the XI servers, as far as I know everybody here in XI is a manchild. How're they gonna separate those who are part men part boy.. At least I think I read that. But I am sure no zoom. Gamers like their zoom. They are common in terms of helpers. Could be guided missiles, from aircraft or otherwise. Could be thermal sights. Imagine cod5, or a BF variant, but with even less tech. That doesnt mean it wont be fun. Just means there is a large audience that wont play anything but modern or post modern. But i'm sure dice thought about that. I get that CS is popular, but other then being a fps game it's nothing like the BF series. Personally i don't like CS, no ADS is no like from me But i do like games like insurgency or squad, but even though i really like the more realistic shooters i'm not playing those as much as i am playing BF. I get bored with insurgency after a while, partialy because there is just nothing to unlock or gain. But to each there own of course, would be rather boring if everybody liked the same shit I can't wait for BF1 to be released, i hope the prove my negative points wrong I can live with iron sights and the setting, but what i'm most afraid of after seeing the trailer a second time, is that it is gonna be a battlefront re-skin, with no need to ads and really just arcade gun feel. Luckily I never had any real problems Gun balance was and is fine in my opinion and aside from personal preferences bf4 is the best bf game thus far. Sure the launch was just pathetic for a game as big as bf, but they made up for it big time with cte and all. Without that shitty launch I don't think they would've supported the game for this long.
