defrosting

I notice more and more people ignoring defrosting running past frozen people even in spawn not paying any attention to snow flacks on mini map . im not saying im perfect I miss people here and their and some people do a great jub at defrosting ,but when u got 4 people in spawn frozen and u see some one spawn and go running off it kinds is a pisser. I was think mmay be like kill streaks defroster  perk like u defrost 5 people u get extra car or uva defroster or defroster turret or something make people want to help defrost. cus im getting frusted when I have 20 kills 20 defrost and 20 deaths and guy has 16 kills 2 defrost and 25 deaths  it make me not want to defrost them cus they sure not putting in the effort I aways say u should have close to as many defrost as u do deaths. just thought on my rage babbling idea.

I hear you Reap, I try to exit spawn to find a safe place to turn back and defrost as many as I can. If we are frozen in a bad way I grab my defrosting kit and if I get the chance, I find 4emps can get a lot unfrozen.

This is true. If you are spawn trapped dont play their game. Play yours. Get out. Try and get others farther away, maybe drawing the enemy away from your spawn.

I just recently started playing FT and I used to be that person you are talking about.

 

The thing is that I didn't know that you can unfreeze people from a distance so having to go right next to people and risk being frozen was a bit too much for me.

Now that I know how to unfreeze from a distance, my purpose is usually to unfreeze people rather than be a slayer.

 

I think it'll help if new players are just told once in a while that people can be unfrozen at a distance.

yeah but my bitch is with some of the older player or they don't use emp grenade cus they don't get credit for unfreezing  someone said not sure if true or not , but its a team game and u need to help defrost no matter what.

To be perfectly honest, I added so much stuff to this mod to include more and more and more ways to defrost there should be no excuse now to not do it. And even then I still get asked sometimes 'what about this'

I don't use emp grenades on bubbles, because i miss the target 99% of the time, and i become visible, also the time to throw it feels like forever. so i use my invisibility to defrost 2 at once. Is for me way more easier. But like Reaper i was thinking, why only get rewards with killing? Why not give rewards with defrosting as well? with killing you get a defroster, which i think is fucked up. Because there are "selfish" players who only think of killing and don't defrost because in the end they will get a uav defroster or car that does the job for them. I was thinking why not get rid of the killstreak defrosting tools, and add those as a defrosting streak reward. Then those bastards have to defrost to get defrosted.

Looked into the 'points' idea once, so defrosting could get something. But iirc few were actually interested in it. The one thing I did add, which is still there but off, is that you get some body armor every time you do a full defrost. Up to a certain point. So its not a direct way to get you a streak but gives you a small additional boost the next time you face an enemy. Maybe two rounds protection depending on the weapon. Upping the chances that you will get a streak depending on your skill. Of course the more often you defrost the more often you get some armor. But some people got mad at that.  Probably the people that didnt defrost much. Players here like making kills by shooting off your big toe. I sometimes wonder what would happen if all hits to lower limbs (knees to feet) and arms (elbow to hand) were ignored. Probably get screamed at.

Keep in mind, there are defrosters and shooters! The defrosters get no bonusses only more points, while the killers get all the extra's. I think what i suggested isn't that much to ask, it might actually make the NON defrosters look differently at the game. This game is all about defrosting if you have one that only works with the killstreak defrosting tools (and that falls away) They will look bad for an entire team.

On another note, i tried to defrost with  my predator, but that is not working anymore, right?

That is correct. It was a bug. But I didnt want to just get rid of the idea of some kind of air-support defrosting since it was a good one. So made up the defroster instead.

 

As for bonuses, you mean like the ones for avenger? Any suggestions? I could probably add some more in beta 10.

No not that kind of bonuses, i was thinking to just replacing the defrosting killstreaks for the defrostingstreaks. So for example when you have 2/3 kills you get the rcxd, give that to the defrosting rewards, when one has like 3/4 or even 5 defrosts reward them with a defrosting streak, with rcxd, and with 7 or so with a uav defroster and so on. And then remove those from the killstreak awards.

Ugh, two simultaneous ways of handling streaks. That will give me nightmares.  

 

An interesting idea tho. An option for getting streaks by defrosting... only via proximity or your gunsights... but kills do not count. You get them by saving people instead of killing people. However it is sometimes significantly easier to defrost a large number of players than to shoot them. Certainly in big games. There would be more defroster campers. Just hide out until you can defrost 14 and get a tacnuke. Snipers would probably like the idea as well. Those would have to be looked at.

 

Have to watch out for boosters tho. Two players in a building in or close to spawn. 4t4scrap comes to mind. Player one makes it easy to shoot him through a window. The other hides and defrosts him. Player one goes back and repeats. The enemy thinks its doing great. When in fact all they are doing it making it easy for player two to get that tac nuke. Next round, they trade places. If there is one thing I have learned, on this server people will use any possible advantage or bug they can find. Yes that sometimes includes clan members. And of course they keep their mouths shut so I dont fix it. A conspiracy of silence.

well u are talking about nukes, i am not..... yes i was talking about simultaneous streaks. Defrosting streak....as rewards, defrosting rcxd, uav maybe even a defrosting predator?

@@Sammy, not a bad idea to entertain... make the defrosting streaks pacifistic in nature. I mean, you do 50 defrosts you earn a Defrosting Nuke Mini nuke. Make it a built-in streak perhaps, that gets added to your regular kill streak loadout?

Ow and perhaps a question about the defroster turret, which seems to be very nerved in range and not defrost yourself? I feel it has lost its value, as I set it down on the center of a ratmap, and it got 1 defrost, which seems very weird for an 8 kill streak, where a defroster uav or a car both get a million more. (Sorry for going off topic)

Boosting would still be a problem, passive or not, and something would have to be done to prevent it.  The turret does have a minimum range. Mostly for practical purposes about trying to zero in on a player that close. It also has to be able to see the frozen player. Actually the same checks the regular sentry gun uses. The uav also and being in the air gives a better view certainly but it is easy to shoot down. Most dont bother and actually have be told to do it but that is another problem. I dont recall how long the turret lasts on the map nor the max range but that can certainly be increased to make it more useful for a higher streak if its not doing anything.

I would like to see the Uav defroster a teeny bit harder to shoot down, or let it defrost faster. It seems the majority of time I put one up it only gets 1 defrost then is shot down.

Its easy to shoot down because its a low-number kill streak. Actual health is the same as the UAV iirc.

Pretty sure but due to its size and speed its very hard to get a hit. However SAMs will go after it, if the launcher can see it.
