This is doing my head in, been online looking to solve this but the fix i was told to go for never worked, everytime i leave my PC alone for as little time as 2 minutes (even if i have a game or program running) it wants my password inputting again... only had my PC running with Windows 10 for a few days and i am totally pissed off with this already.

Try control panel, power options customize the plan and check out require password on wakeup.  I think it will be in you power settings somewhere.

I don't see anything like that in my power options m8, i googled this and it says that windows 10 does not really want us to remove our passwords, it told me to click start then type this "netplwiz" then it took me to this which i tried but i still have to input password lol.

I am on the education version.  Ill check my one at home.  I know that when it is plugged in and open and logged in it just stays there.  Maybe set power options to do nothing when plugged in.  also you are prob using a desktop huh?

These are all the options i get on my power settings, can't see anything in there that will stop me having to use a password on start up.

People seem to be saying that this "netplwiz" works in these forums, seems like lots of people don't like to be told that they must have a password even if they don't want one, well i tried it but as i said earlier i have not restarted my PC since so maybe it will work, i will let you know tomorrow.

Well, I dont think I have any information that would be useful.  sounds like a shit setup on Windows side.  What do you have set for a screen saver?  Maybe turn that off all together.  If you can, fu*(ing windows.

I have a password on mine and seem to remember it took some googling to fix it so I didn't have to type password in (even on start up), but it still has a password and occasionally asks me for it, like after an update etc.

Forgot to add, I'll see if I can figure out what I did and let you know tomorrow.... early night tonight.

Check your screensaver settings:

1. Press the Windows key + R and type the following in the Run box.

control desk.cpl,,@screensaver

2. Uncheck the option labeled "On resume, display logon screen".

3. Click Apply and OK.

If you want to delay the lock screen timeout, please refer to this method:

Hopefully these will work for your case!

It won't even let me change my password because it seems i never specified which disk drive to store my password in, i get 2 options my "F" drive which is an external drive where i keep a lot of music and my "G" drive which is my ipod, it seems a bit strange that it can find 2 disk drives that does not hold my password but can't find the one that has it.

Password will be saved on whichever disk the OS is installed on, I would have thought.

It was netplwiz that I used to stop me having to put password in. Once you have put in the password for netplwiz, it should give you more options like this....

58087f4ea4eba_Netplwiz.jpg

Uncheck the checkbox highlighted.

screensaver should have a logon screen on resume option too....

58087fc3b1371_Screensaverlogin.jpg

Make sure that one is unchecked too. Sometimes, 3rd party screensavers have their own settings for login screen so check the settings of the screensaver using the settings button just above the highlighted area and see if there is an option in there.

If none of this works, go to start menu - settings - accounts. Should be an option for sign in and an drop down box for sign in on wake / never..... choose never.

Good luck!

Are you still having to log in from screensaver screen as well or just on start up?

If it's just start up, I think you can do it it with either starting up using task scheduler or bios.
