It is a major touristy type town with a lot of options for food drink and hotels. Two hours or less from several airports, driveable (easily!) from the Channel ferry to the UK and from most of the Netherlands as well. Bournemouth is the UK location which is ideal. Plenty to do, and train links are ludicrously easy. Hotels will be around £120 for 2 nights, which isn't bad. If there's a Mainland Europe one, then I'm torn between Ghent and Berlin, Berlin would likely be easier to travel too, but Ghent in general is cheaper overall in terms of hotel costs but a bit more difficult for many people to get too.
