I have a new build with no CD/DVD drive that I would like to install COD 4 and 5 on. I am a registered owner of COD 2, 4 and 5 and I have all of the install discs and registration codes.

Is it possible to install the games online (legitimately) without having to use the discs? If yes, can someone outline the steps necessary to accomplish all of this?

I would really appreciate it :-)

Thanks, Jack (MrCrowe)

I know i have an image of 5 and if i dont have 4 i can image it. The you can just load the image using daemon tools lite (free) and what that does is load the image as a disk...then just install. I am not at a machine to do that now but pm me or something so i dont forget ....

Thanks Deerejon! Maybe I could get an image creating program and just make images of all my discs. I'm not familiar with daemon tools. I look into it now.

Hi Goofloop,

I'm assuming that if I use your files I can just install and use my own licenses? Then it would be updates, patches and ?

Hello my early morning friend, if you want to keep your present settings just in case 'ghosting them' doesn't work keep a copy of this folder and paste it in after loading (same for maps if you want) I do this monthly as I've lost this before, retains all your weapons and changes

C/Users/Your Name/Appdata/Local/Activision      you need to show hidden files

Are you sure you like Scotland?, it's freezing here in UK

Thanks Rob!

I'll give that a try once I get the game install images networked over. I created the images last night and I will work on the rest today or tonight sometime depending upon what happens.

I love Scotland and every place I have been in the UK. In many ways I think I was meant to be there but unfortunately my ancestors left for good in around 1880. I felt great every time I was there and I found the people to be very nice and great to be around. I missed being eligible for dual citizenship by one generation. As I get older I'm not so sure that I could adapt to the colder climate but the scenery, history, culture, (not the food so much) and the people make up for the lack of warmth.

Thanks again for your assistance.

Jack (MrCrowe)

Ah MrCrowe the grass is always greener, and the reason why in Scotland is that it pours down every day except for the winter when it's snow, when the sun comes out so do the midges, stick with your sunshine.

I really loved my visits to the UK. I'll trade you midges for endless traffic jams every where you go. Over-population, rent and mortgage prices so high that you either have to live with someone else of have 2 jobs to make ends meet and the worst problem ever, we now have a complete idiot and embarrassment to the world running our country. Yeah I'll take bugs and weather over this any time.

Rob,

I don't know who you are talking to about him but all rational and reasonable people over here think this is a nightmare! More and more of the orange asshole supporters are seeing what a mistake they have made and turning against him. He is attempting to dismantle everything progress related and everything good about this country. We are truly a nation divided and far more of us voted against him in the popular results. Unfortunately we have an outdated system that allows the electoral college results to set the outcome. Those facts teamed with Russian involvement in our elections got us this total disaster that we wake up to everyday.

I'm going to assume that you speak mainly to people that play COD games regarding politics in this country. Many are gun-nuts or people that want war. I am the opposite of most that play these games. I want peace, equality,  gun laws similar to the UK or Australia, health care for all and emphasis on education.

I think that you will find that most of his die-hard supporters live in remote areas and aren't exposed to all aspects of how these things effect the general population. In this case, ignorance is a very dangerous thing.

Would it not be easier to buy a wee cheap external cd drive for installing games? I'm sure you can pick them up pretty cheap

Onyx,

Yes that is true. I have an external drive and I also have another pc connected to the network that has an optical drive installed. My purpose in all of this is to attempt to install and upgrade everything without using a drive. However, in the end I had to use the drive installed in the other pc to create images for use on the newer pc. Now I just need to get all of the updates, patches and my player folders.

Just copy everything from CD to thumb drive or external hard drive, including profile and patches. Should never need CD again.
