I am looking at replacing an older router as it's a bit flaky these days and want something for higher speeds both internally wired and wireless to accommodate connection speeds of ~250 Mbps download and ~20 Mbps upload.

Base features I am looking for:
- wireless AC
- dual band (needs to run simultaneous 2.4 and 5ghz)
- gigabit ports
- under $200 CAD (after taxes).

I am not stuck on any particular brand either.

Done a bit of reading reviews but none that actually point to a particular brand or model so appreciate any feedback on past experience or suggestions based on what you've read.

Thanks

Cheers

I bought this one last month, and have used a couple of them at work for about a year without issues.

This is a POE model It is more wireless. I realize this might not be what you need.

I have yet to run the Ethernet cable for this. because my house is 70 feet and multiple levels so in parts of the house the WiFi is spotty. This model will reach up to 400 feet and can reach out into your property, this model can be mounted outside under an eve.

Just realized I need better wifi, something to do with my wireless AP not keeping up with the ISP upload/download speeds.   I'm currently looking into a mesh router system like these:  http://www.tomsguide.com/us/what-is-a-mesh-router,news-24580.html

YEP, my top three so far seem to be:

AmpliFi (Ubiquiti consumer) - https://store.amplifi.com  - 3 pack (router + 2 mesh point HD) $349

Google Wifi - https://madeby.google.com/wifi/ $300 3pack

Plume - https://www.plumewifi.com -  $329 for a SIX PACK

But D-Link has one coming out soon, might just wait to see how that looks.

I'm running the Netgear 7800 and it's kicking ass. 2-story house approx 2500 sq ft, no dead spots and 12 ish wi-fi devices connected continuously. No problems. Speaking from hands on experience.

That madeby Google setup looks interesting too, but have no experience with it.

I always suggest Draytek to be honest. 2830 is a good model multiple SSID's, task scheduling like Wifi off at the certain time etc. even supports VLANS.

Prime day deal, went for the Linksys Velop (x3), will see if it gets returned.  It uses a couple of wifi chips from this Qualsomething company, will see how good the speed is.

I have been using Netgear Router for about a year now, and it's doing great I am using 11 devices in total, my connection speed is 1 TB from Verizon but I get around 250 MBPS downloading. A good connection speed is must if you are going with wireless router because you won't get the same speed as wired too much interference with wireless routers Try this https://factschronicle.com/best-wireless-routers-1198.html

Netgear Orbi Mesh - excellent speed and coverage, expensive but is the best mesh system available right now. It's one of the only systems that uses a separate channel to communicate between Nodes.
